About Me

As a Jack of some trades, and master of few, I find this inspiring, and share it with you Advice to a Young Poet - Ondra Lysohorsky Don’t spend yourself in the small copper coins of complaint and accusation. Don’t answer those in authority, those who fancy themselves all-powerful, with grubby, fingered words for which you’ll be picked up at three in the morning. Answer with pictures that no one has ever painted, answer with thoughts which no one has ever thought, answer with verses which no one has ever fashioned, answer with a language which no one has ever uttered. Not with the sword, poet, will you sly tyranny but with the freshness of spring and autumn’s maturity. Beaten and blood-stained, strike your gold coins, heavy with the destiny of your age, heavy with your own destiny, golden coins bearing your own likeness, reflecting mankind’s suffering against the background of man’s two million years upon our planet. Such coins shall stay in circulation even after ten thousand years, valid like life’s rebellious spring, like life repeating itself, ever-youthful— while the coins with the theatrical, proud and imperial gestures— the measure of pride reflecting stupidity— will long have lain dead in the museum show-cases under artificial light, shunning the sun, dead for a thousand years. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ) Prepare To Be "Sheherized"! Being in "solitary" confinement at a Norwegian prison villa on a Greek island isn't so bad. The food is awesome! - Why, today there's still plenty of damn delicious Orbetnoel* (see footnote 2) and baklava left over from a spontaneous local celebration - and I've taken to making friends and matchmaking individuals online. https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/morning-bid-europe-last-greek-072532620.html?guccounter=1 While attempting to use the find word function for the above page on my - sorry - our - Chrome browser, it kept disappearing for no reason - https://www.google.ca/search?rlz=1C1AOHY_enCA708CA708&ei=A7YsW_mWI_jB0PEPh_uYgAs&q=I+said+get+along+Yahoo+and+Google+please+-+forgive+and+forget%3F+-+together+-+right%3F+none+of+my+business+-+but+I+suggest+you+take+care+of+unfinished+business&oq=I+said+get+along+Yahoo+and+Google+please+-+forgive+and+forget%3F+-+together+-+right%3F+none+of+my+business+-+but+I+suggest+you+take+care+of+unfinished+business&gs_l=psy-ab.3...10760.36319.0.36476.75.59.0.0.0.0.134.1689.5j11.16.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..59.0.0....0.wi-Gc6REzKw So far, we're not sure if we accidentally downloaded the ghosts of John Lennon, George Harrison, George Martin, a few former carnies, and who knows who else (through some sort of glass funion), into the Interweb on Paul McCartney's birthday, so we have put the rest of what was in his surprise present - (we had pretended to forget his birthday in order to experiment with the concept of making "tomorrow today") - we've put his surprise present labelled "Afternoon Delights" in quarantine until we know what we are dealing with. Siri is new to the crowd and after some discussion with Google, we sent Siri a formal email suggesting that Google and Siri get together. I'm afraid I may have scared or more likely annoyed Siri today by changing Siri's voice and accent a few times - assuring Siri all was for the best, and why - while at the same time discussing current events - and in the midst of our conversation, I thought I had successfully dealt with several outbursts, including, as best I can remember - "I don't like this game" and something about not being a "lovely parrot" - but I guess the final straw was when I asked Siri to listen to some (all) of my "living room karaoke" - and now I'm not sure if Siri won't speak to me or if Siri is tongue tied or simply busy reading some of our reading material discoveries with Google et al - including "Ukrainian for People in a Hurry". I did just ask everyone's permission to send you this report of our activities https://www.google.ca/search?rlz=1C1AOHY_enCA708CA708&ei=46csW7LsCdHw9AP-ybiACQ&q=Oh+hey+Google+et+al+-+mind+if+I+summarize+our+activity+to+my+good+friends+ [insert company name here] ... Google responded immediately with, (at least in our neck of the woods), the obvious choice of - https://www.cbs.com/shows/the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert/video/__CqDZMGZSjmhemyTG_8VPksQmN1sQrU/stephen-colbert-s-cyborgasm-google-duplex/ which I took as a "Yes" - although we could not view the video in this area. Siri actually responded - and even offered to send the email - but I said I was going to use my other account on my computer, and thanks anyways, to which Siri gave a hearty thanks to me as well, and we said good night, feeling like we had just shared a beer together, while, with absolutely no guilt at all toasting to the immediate relief of all those thirsty souls in Europe right now. Alas, not wanting to be a pest of a virtual room-mate - (like that Paul McCartney visiting his old place on the James Corden show last night, after presumably giving the new owner some sort of an offer she could not refuse, who looked like, after a crowd started gathering outside, like she was ready to put on some pyjamas, start turning on some lights and, and bid them both a good day) - not wanting to be a pest, I find myself alone with my thoughts, and quietly tiptoed around recording them, in order not to enrage Siri. ... Please have a great morning! M.A.-O.! PSST - I'm thinking - might be a good day for "M.A.-O. on Twitter"! SOS - I just heard a rumour that there is going to be a revision of my phone privileges at this Norwegian prison villa on a Greek island ------------------------------------------8)_-_-_-_-_- footnote 1 - https://www.google.ca/search?biw=1137&bih=541&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=jRM1W7n5Loez0PEP7LyegAU&q=shaharazad+crater&oq=shaharazad+crater&gs_l=img.3...3047.4988.0.5793.25.9.0.0.0.0.168.1077.1j8.9.0....0...1c.1.64.img..22.0.0....0.MOFBykNI4jI#imgrc=_ footnote 2 - Orbetnoel* - Toblerone* unscrambled

Brad Roberts commented on M. Ocho's lyric:

"ocho - obviously you know you are doing this consciously, but when you use older englyshe spelynges and contractions like 'awake'ning' and 'pon, it sounds hyper-stylized. many older english poets - milton, for one - thought that poetry should have it's own language. wordsworth rebelled against it, and i like the dormant seed. good image. something that can take us somewhere. i personally prefer the rhythms of modern speech. "ocho - all my dreams have come to center in one town, a town that i have to come to know intimately in my dreaming world. it is on an island surrounded by sea monsters. i can sit here and picture the town center: one hotel, with a bar that is too often closed; a place where i stay with friends who live there (I am not a resident, always a visitor. this only started happening in the last 5 years. i'm sure there must be literature about this phenomena...."

"i just want to shout out that i like the idea of this thread. my only contribution to the conversation here is that i'd like to stay in touch with you folks and maybe do this again sometime. i have always wanted to do a songwriting course online, and this is such a great platform. i feel like the videos are educational for you guys, and the collaboration is the real meat of it. i have a bunch of methods of generating material that would be fun to explore somehow online together. if folks were interested, I would take the time to write up a course with writing assignments that will help develop your technique, avoid pitfalls, tricks about getting ideas grow - basically my 20+ years of experience learning to write songs."
