Her hair, her eyes, her glow / memories, nothing more / and now she’s moved on silently / across the desert floor.
She’s gone, far away / and I’m left on my own / looking for a simple way / to move on through these stones.
I’ll run, I’ll run to her / I don’t care how far / hold her close one more time / forgiveness in the stars.
She’s here, I’m holding on / holding on so tight / I won’t let her go this time / I’ll make my wrong life right.
She’s here, right next to me / I won’t let her down / I’ll pour this love all over me / I don’t care if I drown.
She’s here, right next to me / never let me go / looking right into my eyes, we’ll go where only hearts can go
So here we are, our destiny / is forged by a common need to be / loved by another soul in need / loved as deep as love can be.
So here we are the sun is high / I guess I’ll always wonder why / why you’re here, you never left / still the heart that beats inside my chest
Still in the end no one knows me / so I guess that’s it’s best that I’m free / walking the long desert highway / waiting ‘til night becomes day.
Where will this ancient dance lead us / when will the carousel stop / does anyone out there still need us / or should we just climb for the top?
Deep in the night I can feel you / close by my side as we move / so where will this ancient dance will lead us / does anyone out there still see us.
She’s gone to someone better, an easy thing to do / I couldn’t change my ways for her I’d break myself in two.
Beyond the loss and grief I feel, I still feel only love / And I see the sunlight up ahead though stars still shine above.
She left without a single word, she didn’t leave a trace / Today I see a sliver of the sun beyond this place.
I stood and watched her leaving, I couldn’t hold her back / I don’t know why I had to let our life fall off the tracks.
She left without a single word, she didn’t leave a trace / I’d fight to win her back if my words could be erased.
The truth might not have saved me, I’ve lived a life of crime / She might have run off anyway if she knew I’d done time.
She left without a single word, she didn’t leave a trace / If I had been a better man I still could hold her face.
Moon falling, sun comes up, behind a sea of clouds / Angel wings fly away, and touch the sky right from the ground.
Sunshine is in my eyes, the dark begins to to fade / No one knows the price I’ve paid, the life I’ve had to trade.
Light breaks the sky, fills the dark, wakes the sun / Time moves so slow when you live on the run.
I cry, but no one hears / huddled on the ground / no one knows the hidden sins / lying all around.
I fear, the black I see / out there in the sky / there is no forgiveness / praying I won’t die
I’m cold, just cold as hell / sick and tired and old / I don’t believe I can / hold on to my soul
Dark and dim the desert looms, the sky is bright with stars / But lurking out beyond your sight lies fear and fight and harm.
There’s no running from the black night, no hiding from the eyes / that watch me try to find a quiet place under the sky.
Forget the sins that brought me here/ forget the pain inside / but out here in this desert hell there’s nowhere I can hide.
The sky is huge with starlight, the horizon, black and cold / I look out there amazed at how this ancient world unfolds
I thirst for one sweet rain drop, lust for any breeze, I’d built a mighty altar if I found a single tree.
I look for forgiveness at the altar of the sun, a hot and dry and blasting wind has me on the run.
I look to the left and right, I look all around, I look for any landmark, a place that life is found.
Right now only bad times, nothing falls my way, where the hell did I go wrong, trying to keep those wolves at bay?
I don’t see the sunlight, I can’t feel the rain, I don’t hear a single voice forgiving me for giving pain.
Out in the middle of nowhere, where day and nighttime meet / I hear the constant sound of drums, desert cries to a desert beat.
If you’re looking for forgiveness, out here in this silence, you probably won’t find it, but you can lose your soul while searching.
I hear her shifting sands, they scream out loud, desert commands, and all alone I watch the darkness as I stare across the land.
Demons cry, screams from hard black mountains, I hear them call my name now, I’m running from the sound.
Demons stand, cursing my existence, wondering how I’m still here, they want me to fall down, I swear I will stand.
I look down, the ground beneath me crumbles, this life can make you stumble, toward the crevice down below.
I stand here looking out across the darkness, looking for a little forgiveness, I can’t escape this dream.
Dark and dim the desert looms, the sky is bright with stars / But lurking out beyond your sight lies fear and fight and harm.
Hear the sounds the desert makes, the wind, the sand, the road / They chill the night, they chase, they bite, and tear right through your soul (“soul” thanks to MariaJack).
Hear the sounds the desert makes, the wind, the sand, the road / They chill the night, they chase, they bite, and tear right through your clothes
The sky is huge with starlight, the horizon, black and cold / You look out there amazed at how this ancient world unfolds
Silent stars light desert skies, the wind begins to blow / It drags the sand across the road and makes a new plateau.
Silent stars light desert skies, the wind begins to blow / It drags the sand across the road, and makes a new plateau.
Storms block the sun as the rain starts to fall /
Riding through raindrops I hear the desert call.
Warm desert wind flows across your long hair /
Riding through storms but with you I don’t care
Strong desert winds push the wind through your hair
Rain turns to sun as the desert wind rolls through
The desert wind is warm against my skin /
Pushing weeds and sand where I’m bound and where I’ve been
The wind out in the desert pushes sand across the road
The desert wind is warm against my skin /
Pushing weeds and sand where I’m bound and where I’ve been
The wind out in the desert pushes sand across the road
The sky has started clearing, the rain has turned to sun
The sun is out, the rain is gone, it’s time to move ahead
The wind has changed direction, feel it on your skin /
You wake up from the dream that makes you wonder where you’ve been
The echos on the sidewalk in the darkness of the night /
Wake me me from a dead sleep sweating bullets, fighting fright
The lonely song of nightfall echos through my dreams /
It has no sense of harmony or timing, just a scream
The sound of windows breaking makes its way into the room /
And running shoes outside your door just increase the gloom
Along the edge of darkness right before the sun can shine /
The deepest shadows push the dust that flies here free and fine
The darkness of the the nightfall makes its way across the room /
It pushes into corners as the light gives way to gloom
The storm outside the window tries to find it’s way inside /
It presses every surface and you pray that you’ll stay dry
The thorns along the sidewalk make it hard to take a step /
But you hustle to your doorway, get inside before it’s wet
Do you all do lead sheets with your songs or do you just take a demo to the publisher?
For Jayne: Do you ever have a melody in your head that you’ll pass along to Chris with words or do you let him deal with the melody?
For Chris: Do you write with guitar or piano or ???
Chris gets a really nice sound. Without getting too deep in the weeds, what workstation do you use and what instruments do you play?
Do you prefer writing about characters or situations? Like this song was about two people but a lot of songs just follow a situation or an occurrence with characters being secondary to the situation. Now I’ll let you rest and I’ll be quiet.
Do you write strictly for the country genre or do you write for other genre’s? Which others do you do if you do others? Which do you find easier personally?
Does Chris ever make lyric changes to better fit the music structure or does he simply try to structure the music to fit the lyrics? Maybe he’ll just discuss a problem he’s having making it fit with you and you change the lyric? Sorry I’m eating up all the questions, but I co-write a lot and love to see how other people deal with it.
Do you start with a title and work from there or does it just depend?
This sort of follows up on Patricia’s question, but a bit more specific. Do you try to write something everyday, either together or separately?
Does Chris ever come to you with a musical idea and you start writing words or is it always words first?
I don’t want to hog all the questions, so thanks Patricia! Do you or Chris always sing your submissions to your publisher or if you feel the song needs a country twang vocal or whatever do you get someone else to sing the demo?
Do you guys find it harder to pitch a 3/4 or 6/8 song? You don’t hear a lot of those on country radio anymore.
It may be the last time I do, but I’ll hold on with all my might
It may be the last time I do, but I’ll hold on as tight as I can.
And whisper one last goodbye, knowing I’ll see you again
And never let go again, but I know this all will end and I’ll be…
Never let go but I know there’s a time coming soon when I’ll be…
Lay my head down on your chest and not let go again
And never let you go, but I’ve got to understand
Sit by your side and wait, knowing you’ll be there soon, standing at Heavens gates
Let go of you one last time, and drop to my knees to pray
And wipe all the tears aside, ‘til they’ve all been cried away
And whisper one more goodbye, it might be the last time
This may be the end of our time, but the love will go on and on
It might be the last night we have, thank you for everything
It might be the last time I do, but it means everything
but if I have to watch you go
I can only watch while you go
All I can do is watch while go
But I can’t change any yesterdays
But I see your life pass you by
But I see your memories fade
But so much seems to be gone
Your heart still holds me tight
Your heart still holds our love
Your heart still holds our lives
Your heart has always been here
Your heart still carry’s our song
You’re heart still warms this home
In my heart you’ll always be here
Your love is here in my song
Your voice echos through this room
The depth of your soul fills the room
Your song echoes through this room
Your voice is just fading away
Your harmony’s fading away
We won’t sing in tune anymore
Those notes just won’t play anymore
There’s a song we won’t sing anymore
You’ve always been the sun
You’ve always been my song
You’ve always held my soul
You’ve always held me high
You’ve always held my heart
You’ve always been my home
You’d always sing me awake
You’d always sing me to sleep
The mornings and nights and time in between, I’m missing it now I won’t know who to lean on, it’s always been you, I’m not sure what to do.
The nights that you held me when I couldn’t sleep, and you’d tell me your love was two oceans deep, now I cry, I don’t like goodbyes, I cry…
The love in your voice, the light in your eyes, the times that you laughed, or when I made you cry, god I know, I’m gonna be lost when you go…
The sound of your voice, the smile in your eyes, the way that you laughed, the way that you cried, they’ll be gone, I know it won’t be long…
I’m missing the light that shone in your eyes, the sound of your voice when you sang lullabies while I cried, and I don’t want a goodbye…
I’m missing the sound of your voice down the hall, the songs that you’d hum while I’d sing along, it’s so hard, knowing it won’t be long…
I’m missing the songs, we’d sing every night, you’d rock me to sleep now I stay up all night and I cry, knowing it won’t be long…that I’ll be missing you
Mom, please don’t slip away
I remember my song, you sang it to me every day
You’d sing me to sleep, and next day you sing me awake
I remember those nights when you’d find me asleep in your bed
I still smell the rose water, hear your soft voice in my head
I remember my wedding we stood for an hour in the rain/ it was worth every minute when I saw her wearing your ring.
I remember the sound of your voice in the kitchen at night / telling yourself that everything turned out just right
I remember that fall from the tree when I broke my right arm / you sang lullabies to me all the way back to the farm
I remember the sound of your voice when you sang lullabies / I’d fall back to sleep, with the nightmare gone from my mind
I remember the sound of your voice when you sang lullabies / I'd fall back to sleep, with the dream gone away from my mind
I remember the sound of your voice when you sang lullabies / I'd fall back to sleep from a dream that made me cry.
I remember the sound of your voice in the kitchen at night
You sang a song that helped me to sleep every night
I remember that fall from the tree when I broke my right arm
I was crying alone, while she drifted away and was gone
I was watching the clock and my daughter still hadn’t come home
I remember the sound of your voice when you sang those old hymns
On the night that she left me we sat by her hospital bed
I remember the sound of your voice when you sang lullabies
I remember your voice on the phone when you called about dad
She was drifting away, what could I say? But you knew
I don't know where you go
But I'm scared when you're gone, I feel afraid and alone.
I hate to say it's true
But sometimes I want the pain of it all to be over for me and you
You sleeping quietly
Breathing so deep, but I couldn’t sleep so I cried
Everything’s far away
I try hard to speak, the words just out of reach, but at least we have today
I know you’ve got to go
And it breaks my heart, we have to start over again, but I know you’ve got to go.
It’s breaking my heart in two
It just scares me so when I don’t know, what else I can do, for you
It’s breaking my heart in two
And I get so scared, when the things we’ve shared, fall in to the deep, deep blue.
It’s breaking my heart in two
And it feels so strange when I see one more change, and I don’t know what else to do.
I don’t know where they’ve gone
Don’t slip through my hands, like small grains of sand, please don’t leave me alone.
They seem so far away
Right here in my hands, like small grains of sand, gone at the end of the day.
Like that old county fair
Just outside of town, candy and clowns and good times we shared
You laughing in the sun
All of the yesterdays that you and I shared before I left home
Tears stain the frame as you try hard to name all the girls
You’re leaning on me, hoping I’ll have the key, I just become your whole world , when you’re…
Tears stain the frame as you try hard to name our child
You’re leaning on me, hoping I’ll have the key, and I hide my tears with a smile when you’re…
Tears stain the frame, as you try hard to name our young son
But there’s so many mem’ries, that won’t make it back, you look back to me for just one, when you’re…
Your tears stain the frame, as you try to name each face you see
But there’s so many mem’ries, that won’t make it back, you just turn and look back to me, when you’re…
We were there on the beach watching the waves and the sand
You’ve forgotten my name, but my love’s still the same and I’ll hold your hand when you’re…
It was you holding two kids and that was the life we had planned
Now I can’t understand, what happening, but I’ll hold your hand when you’re…
Resubmit: The tears rolled down slowly as you stared at the face of a girl
And I held your hand, I can’t understand, but I’ll try to ease the blur when you’re…
It was me at fifteen, in old faded jeans with a smile
Though I’m forty two now, that picture is how you’ve seen me for awhile…
You looked far away, wondering just where we were
And I held your hand, I can’t understand, but I’ll to ease the blur when your…
The picture of me, might have been ten years ago
Ready to leave, on my last tour, in my fatigues and knowing that you’d be…
You’d been lying there next to me, feeling like no one was there
And that picture reminded you what we once had, and how much we shared but now we’re…
It brings back the memory of everything we used to be
Did we lose all the time, back in our prime and now you wish you were free ‘cause you’re…
The one of that little frame house that we lived in for years
Now it’s gone to the town, gone all around but we’re left here with tears and we’re…
It was you in the sunset, me in the shade of the trees
I was smiling at you, like the world was was just you and me but now I’m..
The front of the church, on the day that we both said “I do”
Now I’m wondering how, I can be better for you, am I…
It was you in the sunset, me in the shade of the trees
I was smiling at you, like you were all I’d ever need, but now I’m..
It was you as a young girl holding your daddy’s strong hand
Not even able to walk, but he helped you stand and now you’re…
It was me in a suit and you in your white wedding dress
The scene was so perfect, how could I ever forget and now I’m…
I sat down beside you, and swore I’d make them end
I cupped your face and felt those tears fallin in my hand.
You woke up lying next to me, all alone again
You woke up lying next to me, what time did I come in?
You woke up right here next to me, all alone again.
And I wondered if you might be missing him.
Right then I knew I’d pushed too far again
I held you close but I knew, you’d be leavin’ again
You woke from that dream that I was in trouble again.
You woke to that fear of losing us, and couldn’t sleep again.
The dew was gently falling, while we watched the clouds roll in.
Rising (might have already been submitted, but, here it is)
Coming out of the shadows.
We’ve moved past the gloom, let some light into the room, no one should be left behind.
The sun came up so bright, we’re headed back into the light, the darkness is fading away.
We can find the way, into the light of day, the road might be long, but it’s straight.
The song is loud and clear, it's beauty in your ears, come sing it and teach us the words. (Credit Linda Lattanzio Corey for the last segment)
We can’t wait here for signs, or positive headlines, love, has to light the way.
If the night should fall, there’s no need to feel small, there’s strength in the love that we share.
The song is loud and clear, it’s beauty in your ear, come sing it, we’ll all sing along.
The sun is high and bright, we’re about to get it right, let our love guide us again.
The song is loud and clear, it’s beauty in your ear, come sing it, and gather your friends.
Love is everywhere, I feel it in the air, and loneliness is falling away.
The song is loud and clear, it’s beauty in your ear, come sing it, and gather your friends.
Smiles are everywhere, encouragement and repair, and bright days are one step ahead.
Come and find your way, it’s here in the light of day, and darkness is falling away.
Souls are reaching out, we should leave them with no doubt, that brightness is one step ahead.
Love is everywhere, I feel it in the air, and loneliness is falling away.
Time is on our side, we won’t be taken for a ride, no blindness we see the road ahead.
Breathe the air and feel the heat, see the light begin to shine./ The song we haven’t sung is playing right in perfect time.
Time to walk back in the light, out of darkened corners./ Celebrate the lives we have, give comfort to the mourners.
The singer’s out there singing, the notes are pure and clear./ The song is getting louder, soon everyone will hear.
Feel it warm the ground around you, see it in the sky./ We can make life better, one person at time.
The sky has started clearing, the rain has turned to sun./ Everyone has found their place, the healing has begun.
The sun is out, the rain is gone, it’s time to move ahead./ It’s not a dream, no this is real, no one is left unfed.
The wind has changed direction, feel it on your skin./ Time to make connections, lets’s start to love again.
Light the flame and chase the dark, pass it all around. /No one left behind this time, the lost have all been found.
The pulse, the heat, the rhythm, the lighting of the dark.
Feel the rhythm moving you, the light will crush the dark.
Sparks are flying everywhere, breaking through the dark.
Let it pull you up, see the light shut down the dark.
Breathe it in and open up, the light will heal the dark.
Take a breath and see your life move right out of the dark.
Feel it on your skin, it hits you like a spark.
Breathe it in and let it pull some light into the dark.
We’ve got the time to find some peace, I search hard every day.
Let’s take a few steps forward, walk toward me as a friend.
No need to find a place to hide, come find your friend or lover/
We’ve been so long away from home, it’s time to rediscover.
The song you’ve started singing is a song I love to hear.
The song we sing together is the song that holds us up.
The song we sang together should be ringing in our ears.
The song we sing together is the strength that holds up.
Now I hear the voices getting louder in my ears.
Now I see the eyes of those who stood so far away.
I remember times together, the times we held each other.
The time we’ve been apart will only make us stronger.
Let’s close the gap between us, take the time to see us/ The only thing that stops our love is when we don’t adjust.
This time apart has shown us what can happen when we fear.
Closer now I see them clear, I hear them all I know they’re near/ The time apart has shown us what can happen when we fear.
We have a chance to make a change, why not start today?/ Don’t hold out for tomorrow, you might just be too late.
I’m ready to find the place where all my friends have gathered.
No need to find a place to hide, come find your friend or lover/
We’ve been so long away from home, it’s time to rediscover.
Riding through the storm we’ve had to take some steps alone/ But times are changing slowly as we find our way back home.
And once we’re standing straight and tall, we’ll build a life together/ Where everyone is welcome and everyone has shelter.
Drifting through this desert sun we’ve finally found some shade/ Now we’ve found a peaceful place, no need to be afraid.
Everyone has felt the pain, seen the broken pieces/ Don’t give in and don’t give up, we’ll meet where love still reaches.
Up ahead a light still shines, we’re not in endless darkness/ Time to let our tired eyes see beyond the blindness.
We can turn the corner, together we can push ahead/ Let’s fight the fight together for a world that’s been misled.
I can be a friend you know, we’ll fight the world that went insane/ One step at a time is how we battle all the pain.
Our lives may never be the same, together we can face the pain/ I’ll meet you where the ground’s alive and we’ll plant that single grain.
One small step will move us, one small act will change us.
Take a risk and be the one who’s love will shape and hold us.
I’ve just got a single light, will you share your light with me?
If we all shine one single light we’ll get that chance to see.
We’ve got to find the light, the one that shines in darkness
We can’t be stuck forever, there’s a chance to show our kindness.
Our way outta the darkness takes a single step.
Take it with me, don’t walk alone, I could use the help.
How much light will this world need to cover up the darkness?
If everyone can shine one we’ll find our way to kindness.
Does anybody hear the cries, does anybody see the tears
Let’s open up our eyes, open up our ears.
I’m here to try to soothe the hurt, ‘cause I sure understand
We’ve all been through it lately reach out and take my hand.
I’ve got time I’m listening, lay your troubles in my hand.
It’s no trouble at all, I’m here, just take my hand.
We’ll walk out of the flames and maybe then we’ll understand.
Give your heart and soul to the ones who need it most.
Walk along with someone, help them find their way.
We’ve been far apart too long it’s time to make a change.
Every lonely face you see just needs your simple smile.
You and I can be the change that lonely hearts can feel.
Every change will always have a very simple start.
Find the one who’s near you, that needs an open heart.
Look around and find the lonely heart and give your hand.
They look through blurry eyes at the souls that pass them by.
Waiting for a single face to look them in the eyes.
Searching for another pair of eyes to find the way.
Hoping that the sun will come, to open up the day.
They’ve been rocked from side to side, felt like they almost died.
But know they’ll come out free and clean, on the other side.
Searching for another pair of eyes to help them see.
It’s dark right now, but daylight lies ahead I guarantee.
The tightness in their chest is from the holding back of tears.
Like a dam that bursts wide open they’ll flow out and life can clear.
Crying out for any sign of love that they can find.
Knowing that it’s out their if they open up their eyes.
Looking for another soul to walk with on their way.
Looking for a heart that’s going to help them through the day.
Hoping all the distance in between us falls away.
And hope is sometimes all you have to get you through today.
Looking for an answer, searching every face.
Hoping that they’ll find the truth somewhere in this race.
Take a look around you, It gets better if you try.
Heartbroken, down and battered, but not beaten, they still try.
They look at me with emptiness, and tears come to my eyes.
I’m ready for the the next step, will you walk with me awhile?
But we can’t lose our hope we’ve got to make it one more mile.
Look up and face the future we’ll reach the other side.
But when you see their eyes, you know they still know how to cry.
The time goes by so slowly when your tears have all been cried.
How many people won’t look up, but still they’ve taken sides.
Let’s try to make the change that takes us to the other side.
How long will it be before our arms are open wide?
How far will we have to go to see the other side?
Resubmit: people turn away, won’t look each other in the eye.
But tears and fear are everywhere, I see that in their eyes.
But looking in their eyes tells you they still know how to cry.
Resubmit: They’ve seen the worst of everyone and now they wonder why.
They’ve seen the worst of everyone and now the order why
People look away, won’t look each other in the eye
The song of quiet laughter isn’t gone, I hear it now
Just listen hard, you’ll hear it too, I can show you how.
The time we spend together fills the silence in the air.
We just hold on to each other, that’s the kind of love to share.
A light that breaks the darkness, that’s what I’d like to be.
One that knocks the shadows down and helps us all to see.
You don’t need to be alone, I’ll stand beside you here.
I won’t walk away from you we’ll make the pathway clear.
There’s a darkness we’ve been under, but I see a ray of light,
Out there in the distance, but I think we’ll be alright.
If my eyes could only see the pain you’ve felt along your path.
We find a way around the silence with a smile straight from the soul.
We walk the streets in silence, no one dares to speak.
People on the streets don’t look each other in the eye.
A quiet place to hear the song and then join in and sing.
We found one road to travel and we look for more ahead.
We’ve struggled through the lonely days, together and alone.
We wander through the emptiness, and open up our hearts.
We wait here in the silence, ‘til the shout comes back around.
We wait here in the silence, ‘til an answer comes around.
I wait here in the silence, the answer will come back.
Listen hard for answers hoping some will come around.
We listen hard while hoping, and a quiet voice comes back.
I think I hear the the sound of someone on the other side.
I think I hear the sound now of someone shouting back.
The silence won’t last long now, it’s on the way back here.
The silence won’t last long now, it’s on the way back clear.
The sound comes back in pieces, but it’s there for us to hear.
The sound that comes back shatters all the distance that we’ve made.
Our shouts come back as whispers, the connection has been made.
The taste of freedom there as it falls gently on my lips.
Silence shouldn’t last this long, our soul needs openness
Quiet reminiscing in the evening, in the mist.
Everyone’s just bristling, quick to raise a fist
Right across a table like we’ve always reminisced.
It’s time to pull together, not time to be apart.
Silence doesn’t move us closer, it keeps us far apart.
Silence shouldn’t last this long, I’ve had enough of this.
The chance to take a look inside their eyes.
I know there’s someone out there, maybe hiding in the mist.
The touch of every loved one, I’ll add that to my list.
The friends I haven’t held and the loves I haven’t kissed.
The sight of all the people walking by
The chance to take a look inside your eyes
It’s a special combination, love combined with giving.
It’s the only way that we can keep on living.
I can feel your pain, I can see your fight.
But all that goes away if we just step into the light.
We’ve got to find a middle ground, something in between.
Can you spare a little kindness when you see me down and out?
If you walk in my direction I think you’ll like the view. I’m looking for the road that’s gonna take me right to you.
You’ve been over there and I’ve been over here. The distance ain’t the problem, the answer is so clear.
We’re walkin’ down two different roads, but not that far apart. Take a look at all I’ve got for you, look inside my heart.
We’re walkin’ down two different roads, but not that far apart.
Just take some time to know me, take a look inside my heart.
If you walk in my direction I think you’ll like the view.
I can’t wait to find the place that gets me next to you.
You’ve been over there and I’ve been over here.
I look in your eyes and the answer seems so clear.
One light that shines for you and me/one day the darkness will recede.
One light that flickers from a spark/so bright that it moves from heart to heart.
One light that shines for you and me/one night the darkness will recede.
One dream that every soul can share/One love that leads us from despair.
One light that leads us from the dark/One life to hold here in my heart.
One light that flickers from a spark/one flame that moves from heart to heart.
As the best and worst of mankind has passed us by / Remember the good you’ve seen, never let it die
One light that flickers from a spark/one flame that moves from heart to heart...One World.
One dream that hope and love are here/
One light that flickers from a spark/
One dream that every soul can share/
One love that takes us by the hand/
One light that flies across the sky/
One chance at love for you and I/
One day when hope and love abides/
One light that flickers from a spark/one flame that moves from heart to heart.
One love that takes us by the hand/and leads us out of this dark land. (With a tip of the hat to Bob Marley)
One light that flies across the sky/one chance at love for you and I.
One day when hope and love abides/we’ll stand together side by side.
One light that flickers from a spark/one flame that moves from heart to heart. (Thank you Lovie for the first line changes).
One light that leads us from the dark/One life to hold here in my heart.
One light that flickers in the dark/one flame that moves from heart to heart...One World.
One day, we’ll all look back and see/these days were here to set us free.
One light that shines still in the night/one day we’ll see it clear and bright.
Just like the sun will shine again/we’ll be together soon my friends.
One light that flickers in the dark/one flame that moves from heart to heart.
One light that leads us from the dark/One life to hold here in my heart.
And when we’re no longer far apart/you’ll be here closer in my heart.
And when we’re done with our time apart/you’ll be here closer in my heart.
When the sky is clear and all is bright/I think we’ll all be alright.
When the sun is back and the sky is blue, I’ll be the first one there for you.
Where we go from here is hard to say/but think about the lessons learned today/we can move from here, push beyond our fears, it’s not a heavy cost.
Where we go from here is hard to say, think about the lessons learned today
And when night has turned to day again, I’ll stand beside you my friend.
Seems it hasn’t been that long at all/everything in life seemed very small/now look where we are, all our friends are far, no matter where they are.
What if everything just went away/night just wouldn’t turn back into day/I’d still see your face, feel your warm embrace, I’d find your love.
No one that I knew is still around/everyone has left and gone to ground/it’s a dream I’m in, since I don’t know when, we’ll get back home.
Feels like I’ve been walking through a maze/in the fog and blinded by the haze/guess I hope it’s true, and we’ll all get through, if we just share.
Everyone has found a quiet place/maybe we can all talk face to face/like we used to do, it was me and you, we’ll find our love.
Did you ever wonder how this ends/the future looking backward ‘til it bends/while we we live and die, I’ve always wondered why, we don’t love more.
Distant but together in this place, everyone has stopped the crazy race, can we stay this way, past the end of the day, when we’re set free.
Soon we won’t be standing all alone, and hoping for the ringing of the phone, we can get back home, back where we belong, and hold on tight.
Up ahead the sky is getting clear/even though you’re there and I’m still here/it won’t be too long, if we just stay strong, we’ll be face to face.
One light that flickers in the dark/one flame that moves from heart to heart...One World.
One light that flickers in the dark/it’s just a flame but it’s a start...One World.
One light still shining in the night/one day this all will be alright...One World.
One light that shines still in the night/soon we’ll be standing where it’s bright...One World.
One light that shines still in the night/one day we’ll have it in our sight...One World.
One day, we’ll all look back and see/this day, was meant to set us free...One World.
We’ll watch ‘til we see the sun again/when that will be I can’t say when...One World.
One day this all turns back to dust/‘til then we have to learn to trust...One World.
Just like the sun will shine again/we’ll be together soon my friends...One World
One light that leads us from the dark/One life to hold here in my heart...One World
Like the ground after a fire, we’re battered but we’re growing.
Don’t forget the lessons that we learned/etch the memory deeply, we can turn.
The skies are blue again, people are making it through again.
After the rain falls and the morning comes/look for a hand to hold, see just what’s been done.
We breath the same air, everyone/we sit quiet under the same bright sun.
The skies are blue again, people are making it through again/don’t forget the lessons that we learned/etch the memory deeply, we can turn.
The best and worst of mankind has passed before our eyes/remember all the good you’ve seen, never let it die.
The clouds are gonna fly away/the sun is gonna shine/
But remember what we’ve seen today/this has been a sign.
We’ve been lost so long/it’s time to find our way home.
If we’re pulled apart/you’ll be in my heart.
We’ve been lost so long/it’s time to find our home.
If we drift apart/you’ll be in my heart.
When this time goes by/I’ll be by your side.
I looked at the empty streets below/an old man sat with no where else to go/he was in his home/had no need to roam/no need to fear.
Seems it hasn’t been that long at all/everything in life seemed very small/now look where we are, all our friends are far, and full of fear.
What if everything just went away/night just wouldn’t turn back into day/I’d still see your face, feel your warm embrace, I’d never fear.
Run across the lines and through the trees/find a quiet place enjoy the breeze/just don’t stay alone, always find your home, where life is clear.
Feels like I’ve been walking through a maze/in the fog and blinded by the haze/guess I hope it’s true, and we’ll all get through, if we just share.
Did you ever wonder how it ends/the future looking backward ‘til it bends/will we live or die, do you wonder why, and do you care.
Everyone has found a quiet place/maybe we can all talk face to face/like we used to do, it was me and you, and we were near.
No one that I knew is still around/everyone has left and gone to ground/it’s a dream I’m in, since I don’t know when, don’t leave me here.
I looked out my window at the empty streets below/I saw an old man sheltered there, already in his home.
I looked out my window at the empty streets below/I saw the homeless sheltered there, already in their home.
Did you ever wonder where love and kindness go?/They follow any heart that doesn’t tell them no.
I was walking by an old man and he looked at me and smiled/Like he’d been through all this hell before and knows it only lasts awhile.
When the wind has blown for hours and the sun has gone away/When you’re lost inside a dream I know you’ll see a brighter day.
(Building onJoe Brow’s empty streets idea) I’ve never seen a night this cold, or felt a wind this hard/I feel like we could lose this war if we let down our guard.
Open up your heart and let a little sunshine in/Open up your mind and make some room for all your friends.
And the coin inside my shoe
Far in the distance is the love that we all need, we’ll look ahead and not behind us, we’ll find it.
When we’re together you can open up your soul, I’m here to hold you while you’re crying, I’ll hold you.
Way up ahead there is a light that’s small and dim, we’ll move toward it ‘til it’s brighter, together.
There is a quiet light that shines in every soul, we’ll change it to a fire together, together.
We’ll turn this ripple in the water to a wave, when you and I walk out together, together.
And as you look out far across the midnight sky, you’ll find it in the dark, there’s lightning, it’s flashing.
I’ve always leaned on you and now you’ll lean on me, that’s just the way of life and living, it’s giving.
If you get tired of the road you walk alone, I’ll find another way to get there, and we’ll share.
When you need silence and a peaceful place to stay, just look around for me you’ll find it, peace and quiet.
And every time I turn around I know you’re there, you still believe in me and I’ll try, to shine light.
I’ll be there with you ‘til the sunlight’s come and gone, and then we’ll walk beyond, ‘til daylight, we’re alright.
Your love has held me up when I can’t stand alone, I can’t repay you but I’ll give you, forever.
We’ll walk away from here and hold our heads up high, we’ve been through hell and back together, we’re together.
And if you stumble and and the walls are closing in, we’ll find a way around, or over, together.
When everything that you believe has crumbled down, I’ll help you find the broken pieces, we’ll find them.
There’s still tomorrow and it’s time to look ahead, and you can always count on daylight, you’re alright.
And if you stumble and and the walls are closing in, we’ll find a way around, or over, we’ll get there.
And if you tumble to the ground I’ll help you stand, I’ll walk beside you ‘til you’re better, or forever.
I’ll never stand and hold the ground you’ve held for me, but I can stand here, I can give you, a shoulder.
And if the darkness can’t be broken, can’t be tamed, I’ll be beside you and we’ll fight it, we’ll light it.
If you get stuck inside and the walls are closing in, just reach a hand out and I’ll be there, beside you.
Like a candle holds the flame like the wind whispers your name
I know you might need time to clear the dust away, but I will still be there beside you, to guide you.
This bond we share cannot be broken can’t be changed, the love between us lasts forever, and forever.
I know you might need time to clear the dust away, but I will still be there beside you, to guide you.
This bond we share cannot be broken can’t be changed, the love between us lasts forever, and forever.
I’ll carry you, when you’re lost out in the rain, and the sky is never blue, we’ll stand and fight the pain.
I’ll carry you, out across the midnight sky, I’ll be there in the dark, I’ll always be your light
I’ll carry you, if the light’s too far away, and the night won’t turn to day, I’ll come to take you home.
I’ll carry you, like the winter carries spring, on its way to fill the trees, and the ground with morning dew.
I’ll carry you, ‘til the sunlight’s come and gone, and then carry you beyond, ‘til we reach the light of dawn.
I’ll carry you, like the sunrise carries light, fills the ground with morning dew, and drives away the night.
I’ll carry you, if you stumble to the ground, and there’s no way to get through, we’ll find a way around.
I’ll carry you, like your love has carried me, I’ll hold you in my arms, and cradle you with songs.
I’ll carry you, through the rain and through the storms, and in everything I do, I’ll keep you safe from harm.
I’ll carry you, if you stand in your own way, and can’t fight another day, and you don’t know what to do.
I’ll carry you, over rocks and over stones, we’ll just keep moving on, ‘til we reach the light of dawn.
I’ll carry you, if the journey’s near or far, we don’t have to stop and rest, I’ll be the heart inside your chest.
I’ll carry you, like your love has carried me, you held me in your arms, you cradled me with songs.
I’ll carry you, when we find ourselves alone, and we need a place to rest, together we’ll stay strong.
If the light, gets to far away to see, and the daylight turns to night, I’ll come to set you free.
We’ve walked around, every rock and every stone, we just keep moving on, ‘til we reach the light of dawn.
Sometimes we fall, and we tumble to the ground, it’ll never break us down, we’ll just keep moving on.
Here in my heart, where you live and where you breathe, you never get too far, you still believe in me.
Out in the sky, where the lights can shine so bright, I felt like we could fly, through the darkest night.
I hold my dreams, like the pot of gold they are, with hope for what they’ll be, a hope that they’ll go far.
And here we are, you know the journey was so far, but you never stopped to rest, you’re the heart inside my chest.
Just like a star, flies across the midnight sky, I can see you in the dark, you’ve always been my light
You’re always there, when I stand in my own way, when I can’t fight another day, and I don’t know what to say.
Down the road, we might find ourselves alone, but we’ll find a place to rest, together we stay strong.
You’ve never known, what your love has done for me, but you held me in your arms, you cradled me with songs.
If life has held you down/just take a look around/I’ll help you get through/I will carry you.
If there’s no one on your side/these arms are open wide/I will carry you.
I’ll always be a light/through your darkest nights/I will carry you.
I’ll never walk away/when you need that place to stay/I will carry you.
If you’re stuck out in the rain/and there’s nothing left but pain/and you can’t find your way through/I will carry you.
If you think you’ve lost your way/and the light’s too far away/and you don’t know what to do/I will carry you.
I’ll be the hope you need/fall back I’ll take the lead/I will carry you.
If this life has pushed you down/and it’s held you on the ground/I will carry you.
If the road we walk is shared/together we’ll get there/if you fall I’ll pull you through/I will carry you.
If the doors have all been closed/and there’s no one here you know/and you don’t know what to do/I will carry you.
If you’re stuck out in the sun/and can’t the find strength to run/I will carry you.
When you’re looking for a guide/these arms are open wide/if you can’t find your way through/I will carry you.
I won’t go away/know I’m here to stay/I will carry you.
I will carry on/‘til this journey’s done/I will carry you.
If this road is shared/I know we’ll get there/I will carry you.
I believe in you/we will make it through/I will carry you.
No one stands alone/I’ll keep holding on/I will carry you.
If the rain has soaked your bones/and you’re in it all alone/I will carry you.
I’ll hold out my my hand/when you’ve lost the will to stand/I will carry you.
I’ll pull you off the ground/we’ll find a way around/I will carry you.
I’ll hold your life for you/while you struggle to get through/I will carry you.
I’ll be there through it all/if you stumble or you fall/I will carry you.
I’ll hold you through the night/while we wait to see the light/I will carry you.
I wish on every one/as we wait to see the sun/I will carry you.
Like a candle holds the flame like the wind whispers your name
I’ll carry you/like the sunlight carries warmth.
Like the wind blows through the plains/pushes off the rain.
Like the arms that hold you tight/through your darkest night.
Like the shadows hide the light/when we’re hidden by the night.
Like a lover holds you tight/through your darkest night.
Like the winter carries snow/silent as it grows right on through the night.
Like a lover carries fears/through the night and all your tears.
Like a shoulder carries tears/through the days and through the the years.
Like the sunrise carries light/drives away the night/I will carry you.
Like the winter carries spring/on its way to fill the trees/I will carry you.
I’ll carry you/like the sun carries its rays/
Right down to the ground/gives us all a brighter day/
I will carry you
I’ll hold you up/like beauty holds your eyes.
I’ll carry you/like a minstrel carries songs/there ain’t nothing wrong/if we all sing along.
I’ll carry you/like a minstrel carries songs/doesn’t make them right or wrong/but we all sing along.
I’ll carry you/like the sun carries its rays/
I’ll carry you/like a river carries leaves/
/Turning left and right/on its way to meet the sea/
I will carry you
I’ll carry you/
Like the ocean carries storms/
I will carry you/
If the rivers rise and fall/
Even if they take it all/
I’ll still carry you/
I will carry you
If the rivers rise and fall
Even if they take it all
I’ll still carry you
Out here on my own/I don’t feel alone.
I won’t be alone/on my way back home.
I will carry on/‘til this journey’s done.
Following your light/through the darkest night.
Shadows hide the light/right on through the night.
We don’t walk alone/angels lead us home.
Tell me do you know/where this road might go.
Here we are alone/on our way back home.
Time just won’t slow down/it keeps moving on.
Don’t hide in the night/everything’s alright.
We’ve got miles to go/I’ll be there you know
No one stands alone/we’ll keep moving on.
If this road is shared/I know we’ll get there.
If this burden’s shared/I know we’ll get there.
We’ve both come so far/chasing one more star.
This is where we’re led/let’s find what’s ahead.
I believe in you/we will make it through.
Cradled in your songs/I’m always at home.
You don’t stand alone/we will carry on.
No one stands alone/we’ll keep holding on.
Sky so bright ahead/sunrise bathed in red
We won’t stand alone/when this journey’s done
Sometimes you fell, and you tumbled to the ground, but it never broke you down, you always brought us home.
How can it be, any soul could be this strong, but you brought me safely home, I never felt alone.
You walked around, every rock and every stone, you just kept moving on, swore I’d see no harm.
Did we arrive, you let me sleep until just now, I never will know how, you got me through the night.
So here we are, on a cold night under stars, watching everyone go on, we’ll stay ‘til I feel strong.
I knew the joy, of a soft and gentle voice, that always had a choice, and you chose to take me home.
You were strong, not a thing could hold you down, you kept kept us moving on, ‘til we reached the light of dawn.
Just like a dream, when you’re not sure where you are, I woke up in your arms, I knew that I was home.
Just like the wind, as it moves right through the night, you pushed with all your might, held me close as I held on.
Just like a song, you were sure and you were strong, and we all sang right along, it was like we all belonged.
And here we are, you know the journey was so far, but you never stopped to rest, you passed every single test.
And I’m alive, just because you never quit, you pushed on through the pain, the sunshine and the rain.
You were there, when I stood in my own way, couldn’t fight another day, you carried me back home.
You never knew, what your love could do for me, but you held me in your arms, you cradled me with songs.
You never fell, never stumbled to the ground, always kept me safe from harm, always kept me warm.
You were there, when I couldn’t rise at all, you answered every call, listened to the songs.
Ringing in my ears is the sound of every voice/
How will I ever run away from all the hate and noise.
If I could cross the distance that exists between us now/
I’d move myself through space and time get to you somehow.
I wake up in the morning, and I’m nowhere close to home/
But I know those sleeping silent there are safe from distant harm.
If this heart could speak, the stories it could tell/
The silence can be broken, only love can break the spell.
Will we ever be the same, does it even matter,
Let’s grow from where we stand right now,
Like seeds that someone scattered.
The silent wall around you will crumble to the ground/
I believe together we will watch it tumble down.
There’s a hope that’s locked inside the dream that haunts you every night/
Let it go and bring it home, together we’re alright.
When the world is on your shoulders, and the pain is locked inside/
We’re in this together these arms are open wide.
Every time I pass you by I wonder what went wrong/
We’re you driven here by demons that held you down too long?
I’ll be here to hold you, when you get back home/
Try to help you carry what you brought back in your soul.
How wide are your shoulders, how much can they hold/
I’ll never be as strong as you, never half as bold.
There’s a river running through our lives, right now you’re on the other side/
But when it crests and then recedes, I’ll reach you through the deepest reeds.
Where you stand, a foreign land, you face down every fear/
It’s not the end of the earth but you can see the edge from here.
The morning sun will lift you, give you hope and light the sky/
Love is wrapped around you, don’t ever question why.
When the darkness falls around you, and you wait to see the sun/
Close your eyes and rest until the night has finally gone.
Where the sun meets the horizon, that’s where your day will start/
So I look in that direction, out my window ‘til it’s dark.
I try to find the silence, but the silence never comes/
Out on the horizon I hear pounding distant drums.
When it’s too dark to see or the daylight blinds your eyes/
When the burden that you carry is too much for your life.
Darkness dropped its hold, chased away the cold, in it’s place, a warm soft embrace.
A soft lovers verse, warms the soul when nothing works, the chill is quickly replaced.
Even in the light, when the sun chases night, we’re looking for a safer place to stay.
Now we’re free just to be, to follow every dream, to fly through the sky far away.
Dreams push the night, to the ground, to the light, then we run to the sun and it’s grace.
There’s hope in the light, that fights away the night, it’s blinding, we’re finding our way.
A trip around the sun, another year is gone, we’re older and bolder today.
Coming storms won’t stop us, nothing here can drop us, no hiding, we’re fighting to stay.
Angels greet the dawn, the night has come and gone, hear their wings as they fly far away.
The night can make a mark, but we rise out of the dark, out the window, all the shadows fly away.
There’s beauty in the soul, and love is still the goal, keeps us moving to the light not far away.
There’s a key in our hands, doors open then we stand, staring at the souls that came before.
I hear the lovers cry, the echo and the sigh, waiting for the freedom bathed in hope.
There’s beauty in the soul, it’s there to keep us whole, keep us moving to the light not far away.
Can we steal time we lost, if we can what’s the cost, should we pay it or delay it for awhile.
When the chill of the night, gives a nod to the light, it’s just passing and flashing a smile.
When darkness goes away, sunlight makes its way, to your window, ice and shadows fly away.
Angels greet the dawn, the night has flown and gone, hear their wings as they sing to the sun.
When the love comes in waves, it holds us up and saves, the sweetness completeness of life.
When our heart finds the song, it covers all the wrong, that’s been hiding, dividing our soul.
Our souls look for hope, sometimes we’re grasping smoke, then it’s shining and blinding and bright.
In a dream we can fly through clouds that fill the sky, without limits we’re in it and free.
As we fly through the day there’s a hidden place we stay, where the sunlight and twilight combine.
While we’re stunned at the sight of a day of delight, never waste it just taste it, enjoy.
Now we have a view, beyond the hopeless ache, that takes away our silent dreams and keeps us wide awake.
Time is rolling by me I can feel the brush of air, I’d love to slow it down but I don’t even have a prayer.
We hurry not to wait, to see the golden fountain, then fight our way through hell to reach the summit of the mountain.
Sleeping ‘til the sunlight, flies in through the window, through the room and down the stairs, chasing all the shadows.
Our passion takes no prisoners, fights through any battle, never breaks or falls away, nothing here is fragile.
The clock will never stop, our lives are tied to time, we hope to beat the end but there’s no stepping out of line.
We get locked inside our dreams and there’s no way through the door, forced to fight or break away or crawl across the floor.
We have a heart that’s broken, frozen here in time, in between the dark and light that make up every single life.
There’s hope in every loss, life in every death, the moon would disappear without the sun to give it breath.
Like fire always follows smoke, dust and wind are often friends, sleep can lead us into dreams, beginnings into ends.
Beggars get to choose, and time has stopped it’s flying, there’s plenty left to lose, and there’s always time for crying.
This aching endless night, won’t dash the hope of morning, ride the wave, and look ahead ignore the midnight warning.
Shadows find the corners, hidden never frozen, move like quiet thieves until the dawn has finally broken.
Whispers soothe the soul, a lover’s verse is crying/
Holds the heartbeat in it’s hands, so nothing here is broken.
Moonlight hits the room the night is split wide open, drags the darkness into light our moments won’t be stolen
We hurry not to wait, to see the golden fountain/fight our way through hell to reach the summit of the mountain.
The heartbeat can be felt until the blood no longer flows/let’s open up our hearts and let the inspiration go.
Darkness drops its hold, daylight fills the windows/moments stolen from the cold, returned to us from shadows.
The clock will never stop, our lives are tied to time/
We hope to beat the end but we can’t step out of the line.
Slow the heartbeat, take a rest, walk away from all the fire/
There’s nothing on the other side that anyone desires.
The rain fell down the window like tears out of the sky/
But right behind the rain and tears, the sun was shining bright.
We get locked inside our dreams and there’s no way through the door/
Stuck between the dark and light and searching still for more/
We’re standing on the border right between the dark and dawn/
Trying hard to shake ourselves awake the night is gone.
Some mornings we awake to find a howling, freezing wind/but just beyond our view the sunlight waits to pull us in.
Whispers from a lovers verse/
Soothe the soul when nothing works.
They shine a light in every space/
All the dark has been replaced.
Moonlight hits the room, shadows hidden, frozen/force the fear out of the gloom, our moments won’t be stolen.
There’s hope in every loss, life in every death/ The moon would disappear without the sun to give it breath.
There’s hope in every loss we have, life in every death/ The moon does not exist without the sun to give it breath.
In between the dark and light that makes up every single life/
Lies a stolen moment, maybe one that we have chosen/
Maybe one that’s chosen us, frozen us in time.
There’s a beggar at the corner and it seems he’s given up/
Someone stole his bed roll, left a dollar in his cup.
But there’s hope in every loss, life in every death/
The moon would disappear without the sun to give it breath.
There’s a beggar at the corner and it seems he’s given up/
Someone stole his bed roll, left a dollar in his cup.
But there’s hope in every loss we have, life in every death/
The moon does not exist without the sun to give it breath.
Running through our lives, we look to find a lover/steal a moment here and there, will we stop and find each other?
Fire always follows smoke, dust and wind are often friends/
Sleep can lead us into dreams, beginnings into ends.
And here’s a stolen moment, awaiting our attention/the time we spend without it is just barely worth the mention.
The sun pulled down the moonlight as the darkness faded fast/
I was walking through the dawn when I first saw her gliding past.
The world is rolling by me I can feel the brush of air/
I wonder if I’ve missed the chance to handle something rare.
We face the coming fate, glaring with defiance/but whispers from a lovers verse soothe the heart like diamonds.
We hurry not to wait, to see the golden fountain/fight our way through hell to reach the summit of the mountain.
We take a look inside, a golden haunting vision/built with careful loving hands and measured with precision.
We’re jolted from a dream, sleep was just a moment/but it’s peaceful as we wake, our time cannot be stolen.
Our eyes take in the view, we stand in awe of nature/the rain the sun the sky, the love that’s in our future.
Sleeping ‘til the sunlight, flies in through the window/through the room and down the stairs, chasing all the shadows.
Angels stand in wait, to swing the doors wide open/steal some time before we’re late, but keep the line in motion.
Our passion takes no prisoners, fights through any battle/never breaks or falls away nothing here is fragile.
Moonlight hits the room, chases all the shadows/a perfect moment stolen as we watch it from the window.
Our souls look hard for hope, look for loving guidance/loving arms to keeps us from a long deserted island.
We face the coming fate, no fear will leave us frozen/push the darkness into light, our moments won’t be stolen.
Darkness drops its hold, daylight fills the window/moments stolen from the cold, just lie back and watch them go.
Darkness dropped its hold, daylight filled the window/moments stolen from the cold, quiet like the winter snow.
Flying through a dream, but then the dream is over/the sun begins to stream, and love has been discovered.
Dreaming through the night, they hide before they’re broken/push the darkness into light, our moments won’t be stolen.
Moonlight hits the room, shadows hidden, frozen/push the fear out of the gloom, our moments won’t be stolen.
Taken from the night, dreams hide and then they’re frozen/push the darkness into light, our moments won’t be stolen.
Stolen from the night, dreams hide and then they’re frozen/push the darkness into light, our moments won’t be stolen.
Falling stars cross the sky, lie back and enjoy one/stolen moments as they fly, lovers waiting for the sun.
Daylight fills your eyes, night looks hard for cover/moments stolen as you rise, now the the night is over.
Running through our lives, we look for time together/steal a moment here and there, with a look, a touch, a letter.
Shadows fall from sight, hit the light and falter/stolen moments from the night left waiting at the altar.
Daylight fills your eyes, as darkness start to shatter/moments stolen as we rise, and shadows run and scatter.
Darkness dropped its hold, light filled in the spaces/moments stolen from the cold, warmth has come here to embrace us.
Every moment counts, a thief will try to steal one/hold them tight don’t let them out, be sure they see the sun.
Moonlight hits the room, chases all the shadows/steals the moment from the gloom, brings a silent steady glow.
Angels have to fly, have the grace, reach our souls/then they lead us you and I out of desperation’s hold.
Light from every source, every crack and open space/filled the room and in it’s course, filled our hearts with hope and grace.
Quiet filled our night, we held ourselves together/and this was always right, just love without the pressure.
Darkness dropped its hold, light filled in the spaces/moments taken from the cold, warmth has come here to embrace us.
When I see the look, that light behind your eyes/broken laughter beats a broken dream that takes you by surprise.
Every time you smile, I see the sunlight winning/lose my breath for just a while, then the world goes back to spinning.
Headed for the sun, out of deepest winter/scattered showers, we can run, the chance of snow is slimmer.
Headed for the sun, coming out of deepest dark/you are the only one that I can trust to find the spark.
I can hear your voice, far out in the distance/given only this one choice I say we take our chances.
No one sees us fly, we’re gone in just a heartbeat/broken promise, broken lives but together we’re complete.
So we fight, but we’re blind, pray we’re standing in the line/that will lead us and speed us through the night.
We’ve finally found the key, what it opens we can’t see/just follow every echo in the night.
We arrive just in time, having hidden all our crimes/then we wait for our fate through the night.
Then our heart gets exposed but we don’t find freezing cold/it’s just beating and heating glowing bright.
In a place that hides no sins, you pray that you’ll get in/from the cold and the bitter of the night.
We can beg to get in, hope there’s cover for the sins/and they drift in the mist of the night.
So we fight haunted dreams, think we’ve seen the brightest beam/so we follow from the hollow distant night.
If we make our way inside, we’ll have nothing left to hide/just hold on find gold along the ride.
Will we know what to do, when the line is just a few/there’s a question to be answered, make it right.
Is that gold in the crown, has it fallen on the ground/pick it up, dust it off shine it bright.
Wait your turn where you stand, you can’t push ahead as planned/look away if the saints get too bright.
But it’s fine we’re in line, the wait is by design/there’s no hurry no worry in this fight.
So we wait for our turn, hope to fly and not to burn/pray an angel’s up ahead to hold us tight.
So we stare at the time, how could we be this blind/the true test just might rest with our sight.
When the echos that you hear, are filled with sounds of fear/listen closer you might catch the sound of light.
Then the ground beneath our feet is shaking like a leaf/and we stand still for the good will of time.
When the cracks in the earth run deep into the dirt/we go searching and reaching for life.
So we fall to our knees, look for anyone to please/hope to find them long before we see the night.
A storm lies ahead and we’re staring down the cold/but the winter wind can change and make it bright.
While the clouds hide the sun, the winter wind is cold/we’ll be hopeful and pray through the night.
So we push through the line, hope to get to something fine/and we see it just ahead all dressed in white.
When the wind and the rain, take comfort in our pain/they pierce us and force us into caves.
We fight the dreams that haunt us, hope the day will come/when sleep is not a fearful place to be.
When each step that we take is blind and on the edge/one wrong move and we’ve got proof of hell.
When the ground beneath our feet starts shaking like a leaf/we can’t run we can’t hide from the quake.
The sun fell away in the clouds and in the rain/was it stolen like a moment from our lives?
When the wind and the storm make us huddle in the cold/and we’re searching and reaching for warm.
When the cracks in the earth run deep into the dirt/gotta hold on there’s no place to hide.
When we fall to our knees, look for anyone to please/then we’ve prayed it and played it all wrong.
When the deeds that we’ve done, leave our conscience soiled/we start hiding and fighting the truth.
In the depths of pain, and we’re mopping up the stain/it’s spreading and we’re dreading all the rain.
When you run through the rain, seeking shelter from the pain/‘til you stumble and tumble to the ground.
When the tears that you cry, fall empty on the ground/they’re wasted you’ve just tasted the salt.
When the knife cuts too deep, the wounds will always heal/but we’re not winning if we’re swimming with the sharks.
A storm lies ahead and we’re staring down the cold/then we’re wishing for a distant tiny spark.
When the heart is exposed to the blinding freezing cold/it’s just breaking and aching for love.
If the heart has to hide, from aching pain and shame/we’re not thriving just surviving that ain’t life.
While the clouds hide the sun, the winter wind is cold/and we’re searching and reaching for warm.
There’s the rain from the sky, it’s fallen now for days/we’re just helpless and witness the storm.
There’s the rain from the sky, it’s fallen now for days/we’re just helpless and witness the storm.
While the taste on the tongue is bitter, old and harsh/but we’re crying maybe dying for sweet.
There’s a love beyond the days of despair/take a look around corner it’s there/
Out of the darkness and into the light/out of a dream falling out of the night.
There’s a love beyond the days of despair/take a look around corner it’s there/
There’s a light that shines hope in your eyes/opens the clouds let’s the sun fill sky.
When the dark pulls up the blanket, the light rolls out of bed/
The sky rolls back the clouds, clears the darkness from your head.
The chill of the darkness gives into the light/the warmth of the day breaks its way through the night.
Light comes in waves through the room/chasing the chill of the darkness away.
Out of the darkness into the light/out of a dream out of the night.
Light comes in waves through the room/don’t let the moment pass by us too soon.
I can steal the time back you lost/just a single moment is all that it costs.
I can be a thief of time for the day/give you back a moment you want to save.
There’s light behind the storm and the rain/steals away the moments of pain.
There’s beauty buried deep in the soul/takes away the winter and the cold.
Can we steal a moment from this race/even if we’re staying in one place?
Steal a moment from the end of the day/will we find it any other way?
Hear the wind that whispers and cries/was it stolen like a moment from our lives?
There’s beauty buried deep in the soul/takes away the winter wind and the cold.
There’s a love beyond the days of despair/take a look around corner it’s there.
Can we steal a moment far from this race/even if it means we stay in the same place.
When the heart is exposed you don’t find freezing cold/but a beating and heating glowing light.
And the blood always slows, the wounds always heal/we’re not winning if we’re swimming with the sharks.
Grab a line, grab a a rock, step out into the night/‘til we tumble, maybe stumble into light.
While a rip in the sky, lets in a streak of light/we bathe in and savor any spark.
Grab a line, grab a rock, step out in the night/‘til we tumble, maybe stumble into light.
We try to get beyond it reach a hand out try to rise/‘til we tumble, maybe stumble into light.
While a tear in the sky, lets in a streak of light/and we bathe in any spark that we can find.
The shadow on the wall is proof the light is there/might be far away but it’s a start.
Will the wind and the storm make us huddle in the cold/or can we find a way to break the chains.
Will the wind and the storm make us huddle in the cold/or can we find a tiny distant spark.
We fight the dreams that haunt us, hope the day will come/when sleep comes just as easy as a heartbeat.
We fight the dreams that haunt us, hope the day will come/when sleep is just as easy as the beating of the heart.
The rich man and the beggar, their fate is just the same/they’d love to buy more time, but minutes aren’t for sale.
What lies in the future when we’re staring down the cold/and we look to find a distant tiny spark?
Will the bottom of the barrel shine the brightest light/when the best of humankind has found a home.
Someone’s hiding out there I swear I see their breath/I don’t trust, I’m not adjusted to this life.
Do we stand behind the doorway waiting for the wolves/that’s hiding just surviving that ain’t life.
The heartbeat can be felt ‘til blood no longer flows/then we’re swallowed whole, nothing more than dirt.
We’ll hit the wall of silence, fall and hit the ground/but wind will have us bending ‘til the end.
We’ll either rise or fall when the winds begin to blow/it matters if you’re grounded or you’re not.
There’s a sign out on the road, says we shouldn’t go this way/admit that it’s a tempting sign today.
The blood will finally slow and the wounds will finally heal/but here we are still swimming with the sharks.
Will the demons finally catch us, grab us from behind/can’t look back just walk away from here.
We see the broken windows, bottles on the ground/this is what we’ve built, should we be proud?
Will the rain and the cold that washes down the street/make us wonder at the thunder that we see.
Does the pain of the cold when we’re pushed out in the street/steal the light and take away our spark.
If the hate of a master doesn’t make you break your chains/the darkness that you’re in should make you scream.
If the life that you live doesn’t make you look for more/then maybe you’re not really there at all.
Will the pain of the cold when you’re pushed out in the street/steal the light and take away your spark.
I tripped and fell and hit the ground but looked up at a smile/
How far would I have to fall to keep her there awhile?
Chaos seemed to rule the day I felt the walls close in/
I felt a hand reach out that wouldn’t let the darkness win.
She fought her demons everyday and somedays they would win/
All I could do was hold her and hope the fight would end.
He was just a street musician hoping coins would hit the case/
She always walked right past him never looked looked him in the face.
I pushed away the dream and tried to flood the room with light/
Somedays every step you take is one you have to fight.
A million words went through my head, nothing true that could be said/
So I just listened to her voice, enjoyed the freedom of my choice.
She caught me in a moment when my guard had fallen down/
The rails are never very high, but seldom on the ground.
I met her in the check out lane, fifteen items only/
I was glad that she had twenty and the line was moving slowly.
The rain had washed itself into a pile of dirt and leaves/
Maybe when the summer comes, the wind will blow it clean.
She was weary from the sunlight that she lived in everyday/
Shade is not abundant here in this part of L.A.
She was living on my sidewalk and I didn’t know her name/
Cost a dollar just to guess it, everyday I played the game.
I was backed into a corner and I couldn’t see the door/
There was no way out unless I crawled across the floor.
The storm began in earnest while I tried to chase the leaks/
When you’ve only got one bucket you can drive yourself to drink.
No one seemed to see her she was quiet, she was shy/
But hearts are always bigger than you see with naked eyes.
There’s a beggar at the corner and I think he’s given up/
Someone stole his night roll, left a dollar in his cup.
We were sitting on a park bench, and numbers were exchanged/
I started twice to dial it but I didn’t get her name.
I broke a silent moment that I should have let hang on/
Sometimes I miss the queues and then I’m left out on my own.
I watched her from the barstool as she walked into the room/
I’m usually not distracted when there’s something to consume.
She headed for the front door with a final kiss goodbye/
I offered her the key so she could come back anytime/
She laughed away the offer and then she disappeared/
I opened the door and said goodbye I’m sure she didn’t hear.
The coffee in the cup was growing colder by the minute/
I was pushing conversation but her heart just wasn’t in it.
She was headed out the door as I was walking in/
I can’t stop believing that I missed a chance right then.
She stood there in the moonlight, she loved the dark and dreary/
Like rain on the parade route while the patrons all got weary.
I looked into a face that I had never seen before/
Ain’t nothin’ you can’t buy these days at high end grocery stores.
The rain fell down the window, tears against the sky/
We watched it from the shadows in a fog out of the light.
I watched her in the shadow of a streetlight down the way/
Waiting for the sun I guess or just the dawn to break.
Standing on the border right between the dark and dawn/
I swore I’d gone to sleep last night, my chance for that was gone.
I was looking out the window when she walked into the light/
I know that I had seen her out there on other moonlit nights.
I was locked inside a dream and couldn’t open up the door/
Thought I’d found a way out but my feet just missed the floor.
The sun pulled down the moonlight as the darkness faded fast/
I was walking through the dawn when I first saw her gliding past.
The world is rolling by me I can feel the brush of air/
I look hard for any chance to taste the midnight fare.
She sat down beside me watched the clouds across the sky/
Some turned into friends of mine, at least to these old eyes/
She swore there was a farmhouse in a cloud bank to the west/
I really couldn’t see it but you know I did my best in that moment.
I sat back in silence while I listened to her voice/
The words were not important, I didn’t have a choice/
She’d caught me in a moment where my guard had fallen down/
And then she walked away and I couldn’t make a sound.
I was watching traffic on a Sunday afternoon/
Nothing much to see until a taxi took the turn/
Rolled it on the sidewalk, missed a tree and hedge/
Guess he thought today was his to step out on the edge and he was gone.
She was at my doorway selling books and magazines/
Might have been the sweetest thing these eyes have ever seen/
Does anybody read those? I thought before I bought/
The mailman brings them monthly and my neighbors swear I’m odd
She was at my doorway selling books and magazines
Might have been the sweetest thing these eyes have ever seen
Does anybody read those? I thought before I bought
The mailman brings them monthly and my neighbors swear I’m odd
So while we’re together and tomorrow’s out there
So while we are closer and tomorrow’s out there
So while we’re both here and tomorrow’s out there
I can see tomorrow and you’re in each second
I can face tomorrow if you ever let go
I won’t fear tomorrow with it’s joy and sorrow
If I see tomorrow I won’t fear the sorrow
If I see tomorrow I won’t need to let go
If I see tomorrow there’s no time for sorrow
So I’ll face tomorrow, with it’s joy or sorrow
So I face this future, and we’ll stand together
You can hear the echo, of each word I whisper
The hands keep moving and they won’t stop turning
I won’t stand in silence while the world goes by me
We’ll watch each sunrise turning into daylight
You and I can stay here while the rain falls out there
While the time is moving and the world is spinning
I’ll use all my senses, grab each dream that passes
While the time keeps moving, I’ll be there with you
So I’ll hold you all night ‘til we both see daylight
Each day together is just one more treasure
And our days together are all time to treasure
Our time’s not over but the days move faster
I’ll save each pleasure like a buried treasure
So I’ll wait for daylight, after every long night
And it’s good to be here just to breathe together
(Credit Kayly for the “breath” idea)
So I’ll breathe this time in I’ll be here to feel it
(Credit Kayly for the “breath” idea)
And it’s good to be here share this time together
And I’ll count each second that we have together
I can look and see you and your light just shines through
So I’ll see the beauty, when I look around me
I won’t waste tomorrow, or hold on to sorrow
I won’t waste a second of our days together
I won’t miss a second of our time together
And I’ll take more chances, grab each dream that passes
(2nd line)
I hold on to today, but tomorrow won’t wait, I may be gone when it comes.
(2nd line)
The days pass us by, like we’re frozen in time, reach out your hand and they’re gone.
(2nd line)
How do I move past it, the time that I’ve let slip, can’t get it back when it’s gone.
And in front of me lies, many tear filled goodbyes, let the tears fall without shame.
(2nd line)
I’d hold you tomorrow, I’d be glad to borrow, time from today if I could.
(2nd line)
I’d promise tomorrow, it’s joy and it’s sorrow, it’s not mine to just give away.
(2nd line)
I’ve learned a few lessons, and gained more compassion, (I’ve) still got a long way to go.
(2nd line)
And I may have held on, just a little too long, there was no way to let go.
(2nd line)
I’ll look hard for a way, to be better today, I’ll just let yesterday go.
(2nd line)
And in front of me lies, many tear filled goodbyes, I’ll let them fall without shame.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), I’ve been loved by so many/
Good friends and family, they pushed me and held me, (and) always knew which one I’d need.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), There’s love all around me/
You don’t need to go far, you can stand where you are, look up and love will be there.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), That nothing in life’s free/
No I still have to pay, I won’t give up today, I know that I can stand strong.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), That living will cost me/
It might hurt to move on, you might think that I’ve gone, (but) this love will stay by your side.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), It’s your love behind me/
It gets me through the day, and I’m able to say, you are the reason I stand.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), That someone can see me/
Yes I’m standing right here, I’m not hiding in fear, hoping I get through the night.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), Your love can still find me/
You don’t need to look hard, no I’m not all that far, closer than you might believe.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), Of all I can still dream/
If I keep them alive, I can help them to thrive, as long as tomorrow arrives.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), I left chances behind me/
I should have done more, that shook me to the core, I should have taken more time.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), I’ve got lessons behind me/
If I learn from the past, don’t move forward too fast, I believe life will be fine.
(“Every heartbeat reminds me” by Ddubs), I don’t have to be lonely/
If I spend some more time, and I don’t miss a sign, I just might find you today.
Every heartbeat reminds me, of the people behind me/
The family and friends, that stand there to the end, make sure I never give in.
Every heartbeat reminds me, of the life that’s behind me/
All the loves that I’ve had, all the good times and bad, made me who I am today.
Every heartbeat reminds me, it’s you right beside me/
Tell me where would I be, without all the shared dreams, and all that we hold in our hands.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that you stand beside me/
If I get one more dawn, will you stay and hold on, let’s watch just one more sunrise.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that it’s you right behind me/
I can’t promise tomorrow, but this much I know, I can give all of today.
Every heartbeat reminds me, of the distance behind me/
Some days it’s been hard, but I’ve made it this far, there’s not a minute I’d trade.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that love will come find me/
Hope it gets here today, (‘cause) tomorrow just may be, a dream that will never come true.
Every heartbeat reminds me, I’ve left days behind me/
I’d hold you tomorrow, that promise is hollow, this day is all I can give.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that time is not with me/
I may just have today, tomorrow just may be, a dream that never comes true.
Every heartbeat reminds me, I left chances behind me/
I’ll look to tomorrow, to fight off the sorrow, some things I’ll never forget.
Every heartbeat reminds me, there’s love that can find me/
If I find there’s a heart, that would give all or part, I’ll make it easy to share.
Every heartbeat reminds me, of all that’s behind me/
I look to tomorrow, there’s no time to borrow, I see it slippin’ away.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that time can still find me/
Then come empty the joy, find a way to destroy, all that I’ve built with my hands.
Every heartbeat reminds me, that pain lives behind me/
I’ve felt ev’ry sorrow, there’ll be more tomorrow, I know that and still I can smile.
Every heartbeat reminds me, of all that’s behind me/
So if I see tomorrow, the joy or the sorrow, I’ll know it’s not over yet.
Love holds on forever but life is short
I’d hold you forever, but Life is Short.
Our love lasts forever, but Life is Short. (thanks MariaJack)
We can hold back the tears, but Life is Short.
We hold our back goodbyes, but Life is Short.
I’d hold you tomorrow, but Life is Short.
Time moves on forever, but Life is Short.
We don’t have forever, Life is Short.
Time just keeps on movin’, but Life is Short.
Time holds on forever, but Life is Short.
The rivers keep rising, but Life is Short.
The tide keeps on turning, but Life is Short.
Time moves on without me, but Life is Short.
Right now you’re here with me, but Life is Short.
Our plans can keep changing, but Life is Short.
I’d save for tomorrow, but Life is Short.
We hide from tomorrow, but Life is Short.
I’d give you more sunsets, but Life is Short.
Your breathe comes so gently, but Life is Short.
Right now I breathe easy, but Life is Short.
I’ll hope for tomorrow, but Life is Short.
There’s light in the darkness, but Life is Short.
Our eyes are still open, but Life is Short.
We can dance every dance, but Life is Short.
I can try to hold tighter, but Life is Short.
I still hear the clock tick, but Life is Short.
Feel time moving faster, Life is Short.
I’d stay here forever, but Life is Short.
We hope for tomorrow, but Life is Short.
I hear every heartbeat, Life is Short.
One blink and today’s gone, Life is Short.
Can’t promise tomorrow, Life is Short.
Love’s our only promise, Life is Short.
Can’t hold you forever, Life is Short.
I’d ask you for much more, but Life is Short.
This won’t last forever, Life is Short.
Hold on tight to your love, Life is Short.
Hold on tight to this day, Life is Short.
I hear the door closing, Life is Short.
We’re here and then we’re gone, Life is Short.
I’d hold on forever, but Life is Short.
May not have tomorrow, ‘cause Life is Short.
I’ll just let the rain pour, Life is Short.
I’m here and I want more, Life is Short.
So don’t let your eyes close, Life is Short.
Love stays here forever, but Life is Short.
We can’t waste a minute, Life is Short.
I’ll savor each minute, Life is Short.
The days turn to minutes, Life is Short.
Love stays here forever, but Life is Short.
Drink it down like fine wine ‘cause Life is Short.
Dance every dance and taste ev’ry last kiss.
I’ll dance every dance savor every last kiss.
I’ll save the last dance for you save the last kiss.
I’ll save all my dreams and I won’t let them drift.
And save my goodbyes ‘til they have to be risked.
Blow out all the candles so I get my wish.
And know that it never gets better than this.
Find every heart where a dream still exists.
I’ll play all the songs that I left on my list.
Never hold back any hope I can give.
Stand near (at?) the edge and not fear where it is.
Step out in the open with all of my gifts.
I’ll look for the place hope and dreams still exist.
I’ll find us a future where hope always lives.
I’ll hope for tomorrow where dreams still exist.
I’ll look to the future while we build a bridge.
I’ll keep my heart open through every last test.
I’ll stay through the night if you’re heart takes a hit.
I’ll work right beside you while we build a bridge
I’ll listen for hours to your gentle breath.
I’ll be there to hold you I’ll grant you a wish.
I’ll open my heart to the love that you give.
(Might not want to use love again. You could use time, hope, dreams etc.)
I’ll savor each day like it’s truly a gift.
I’ll pray every prayer I let fall off and drift.
I’ll hear every word like I’m living for this.
I’ll breathe in the beauty and call it a gift.
I’ll push through the hard days and learn to forgive.
I’ll savor each day and I’ll find happiness.
I’ll fight through a strong wind to see you again.
(Again might be a stretch for a rhyme?)
Rush through the day to get home where I’m rich.
I’ll push through the pain and the fog and the mist.
Savor each day I can hold you like this.
I’ll run to your side if you’re lost in the mist.
I’ll listen for hours to your gentle breath.
(Breath might be a stretch for a rhyme?)
I’ll be here to help get that broken heart fixed.
I’ll walk right beside you as long as we live.
I’ll stand there beside you and not let you slip.
I’ll throw out a rope when the current’s too swift.
I’ll hold you today ‘cause tomorrow’s a gift.
I’ll hold you today ‘cause the future’s a gift.
I won’t say goodbye without adding a kiss.
I’ll walk through rain ‘til I’m soaked to the skin.
Let yesterday go and I’ll always forgive.
I won’t hold the past, no I’ll always forgive.
I’ll be there to hold you if life starts to drift.
I’ll hold out my hand when the winds start to shift.
I’ll be there to save you when you’re set adrift.
Hold your hand tight when you’re close to the cliff.
I’ll hand you the keys to my heart like a gift.
If you need to stop then I’ll help you resist.
I’ll be there to hold you I’ll offer a kiss.
Find all the places you save on your list.
I’ll give all I have for as long as I live
I’ll give all I have ‘til there’s nothin’ to give.
There’s no way to break what I’m willing to risk.
I’ll find us the quiet that’s always your wish.
I’ll drive through the rain keep us out of the ditch.
I’ll hand you my heart and then grant you a wish.
I’ll move anywhere and I’ll take any risk.
I’ll go find the one thing that you can’t resist.
I’ll walk down a fine line to feel your caress.
There’s no heart that’s broken that cannot be fixed.
There’s no heart that’s broken cannot be fixed.
I’ll walk through the fire and take any risk
(Fire is two syllables)
I’ll push through a crowd just to see you again.
I’ll move a few mountains I’ll grant you a wish
So I'll live this moment with my heart wide open
I won’t miss a second, no matter what happens/
If I hold on real tight, while today turns to night, be sure that I leave no doubts.
I missed a full second, not sure how it happened/
It just passed me right by, with my eyes opened wide, I’d like to know where it’s bound.
I’m waiting for daylight, it’s been such a long night/
If I see the sunrise, and it comes with blue skies, I’ll walk away from my doubts.
The hands keep on moving, they never stop turning/
If I had all the time, and I followed the signs, I’d find the only way out.
(Thanks to M. Ocho for the idea)
I can’t get the days back, they travel by too fast/
If I build up a dam, they’ll wash over my plans, I have to move on and out.
I’m here on the shoreline, not sure what I might find/
If you stand there for long, you can hear the wave’s song, I know the strength of that sound.
How do I move past it, the time that I’ve let slip/
I can love ‘til it hurts me, then fall in the dirt too, I won’t stay down on the ground.
I can’t get the time back, it ran by me too fast/
And I can’t make a deal, with the devil to steal, dreams I let fall to the ground.
The hands keep on moving, they never stop turning/
If I had all the time, and I followed the signs, I’d find no easy way out.
Time takes little pieces, they blow on the breezes/
Yes it just chips away, we have nothing to say, we can’t start slowing it down.
But time never tells you, what it will or it won’t do/
You can have it all planned, and take your final stand, you can’t get far from your doubts.
But time never told me, what will or what won’t be/
Though I had it all planned, and took my final stand, time left me holding my doubts.
But time won’t wait for me, I need to pick up speed/
While I watched it just fly, with no tender goodbye, time passed and I heard no sound.
I hear that old clock chime, tuned well and kept so fine/
The best of our good days the worst of our bad days, live in that beautiful sound.
Life moves on without us, all we have is blind trust/
You can either believe, or get fully deceived, stumble and fall to the ground.
But time isn’t wasted, if you’re willing to taste it/
So don’t drink it too fast, let the sweet flavor last, then you can swallow it down.
Life comes at a high cost, it’s easy to get lost/
I won’t give up too fast, like I have in the past, the road up ahead is not down.
It comes at a high price, this thing that we call life/
Though I’m willing to pay, I’m not ready to say, answers are easily found.
So now I’ll move forward, look hard for some good words/
The people and places, the friendliest faces, those who can love you out loud.
I hope to be better, spend time getting stronger/
I’ll just hold out my hand, and help someone else stand, I think I’ve figured out how.
I see the tide rising, it’s not that surprising/
That it washes away all the dust, dirt and clay, lets it seek higher safe ground.
It’s been such a long night, I need to see daylight/
If I’d never let go, you’d still be there to hold, I’m here and you’re in the clouds.
But time won’t just slow down, the clock ticks and we’re bound/
No I can’t tip the scale, I can’t tell a good tale, there’s just no easy way out.
I took a few chances, looked hard for a free hand/
But I can’t make a deal, there’s no more time to steal, I’ve looked for other doors (ways?) out.
Time comes by to stop us, it picks up and drops us/
We just keep holding on, ‘til the day that we’re gone, we just get one final bow.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
I miss your soft touch, it always meant so much/
You’re always there for me, you stood right before me, wiping the sweat from my brow.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
How do you move past it, the time that you’ve let slip/
You love ‘til it hurts you, then fall in the dirt, don’t stay down holdin’ the ground.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
And maybe I held on, a little bit too long/
It’s so hard to let go, when you’re sure that you know, all the right answers are found.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
So nobody warned me, that time would walk softly/
Then sneak up behind me, and tap on my shoulder, pass by and not make a sound.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
I’ve learned a few lessons, I’ve gained some compassion/
Love is the only thing, I can give easily, I don’t need even one sound.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
I’m up every morning, sometimes my life’s hurt me/
I walked in with nothing, I’ll leave with the same thing, don’t see another way out.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
Yes that’s my creation, a crumbling foundation/
If you just looked inside, you’d be sure that it’s fine, don’t take a hard look around.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
I watched time walk by me, thought sure it would find me/
But I’ve learned not to wait, I will not hesitate, I’m here to figure this out.
(Resubmit with changes for meter and words)
The sand is still shiftin’, I feel like I’m driftin’/
I see the waves tumble, then crash down and crumble, it would easy to drown.
Or (It’d be so easy to drown)
The sand is still shiftin’, I feel like I’m driftin’/
I see the waves tumble, then crash down and crumble, easily pull me straight down.
How do you move past it, the time that you’ve let slip/
You love ‘til it hurts you, fall in the dirt, but you’ll never be long on the ground.
I think of tomorrow, it brings me no sorrow/
‘Cause in every last scene, and in every last dream, I hear your voice speak out loud.
Imagine where I’d be, if you hadn’t found me/
I’d been locked far away, with no one to save me, I’d never find my way out.
We try to get better, there’s before and then after/
Who’s gonna tell us to live in some hell when there’s plenty of heaven right now.
I won’t give up so fast, I want this to just last/
I’ll walk with my head up, no reason to shakeup, the life we’re living right now.
I’ll move on from this place, live life at my own pace/
The hands just keep turning, the fire keeps burning, while time waits for one final round.
I watched it walk by me, thought sure it would find me/
But I’ve learned not to wait I will not hesitate I’m here to find out what counts.
Yes that’s my creation, a crumbling foundation/
If you just look inside you’ll be sure that it’s fine don’t take a good look around.
I walk through the dark night, sure I’ll see daylight/
When storms come I hold on, I’ll hope until they’re gone try hard to calm myself down.
I get up every morning, sometimes my life’s hurt me/
But I walked in with nothing I’ll leave with the same thing gone without even a sound.
There’s no sign to guide me, the path is mine only/
The world set itself right and I’ll be safe tonight, I keep an ear to the ground.
I’ve learned a few lessons, gained some compassion/
Love is the one thing I can give freely without ever making a sound.
How much do I need this, just like my first kiss/
There’s no place I can hide, when I’ve got tears to cry, can’t let one fall to the ground.
I can’t stand here waiting, and hope that creation/
Has set itself right and I’ll be safe tonight, no this needs a hard look around.
I can’t stand here waiting, and hope that creation/
Has set itself right and I’ll be safe tonight, I’ll take a hard look around.
I need to move forward, fly high like a small bird/
Or get stuck here behind, with no way to unwind, no way to set myself down.
With each passing heartbeat, there’s a little piece of me/
That flies far away, I won’t see it again, it’s fallen straight to the ground.
I’ve spent my days running, not sure where the fun was/
I’ve been up to the top, then felt the ground drop but I never fell quietly down.
I don’t see tomorrow, is it joy, is it sorrow?/
I won’t carve it in stone I’ll just leave it alone, wait to see what I have found.
Nobody warned me, time would walk softly/
And then sneak up behind me, tap on my shoulder and pass me without any sound.
Nobody warned me, time would walk softly/
And then sneak up behind me, tap on my shoulder and move right on past me somehow.
And time doesn’t stop us, it won’t even drop us/
It just sweeps us along on the edge of a song then invites us to take a last bow.
I feel your soft touch, it always meant so much/
Like a soft summer breeze and cool cotton sleeve wiping the sweat from my brow.
And maybe we’ll see storms, but I think we’ll stay warm/
If they come we’ll hold on ‘til we’re sure that they’ve gone that’s all we can do anyhow
I left without talking, then never stopped walking/
I just moved through the night ‘til I knew you’d lost sight and that’s all that I would allow.
And maybe we held on, a little bit too long/
But it’s hard to let go when you’re sure that you know the where, the when and the how.
Life won’t last forever/
Love will never die.
We can’t turn back the clock/And the earth never stops/
Moving around the sun/
One more year/And we might not be here/
It’s somethin’ that we’ll never outrun.
The days pass us by/Like we’re frozen in time/We can’t go along for the ride/
We hold on to today/But tomorrow won’t wait/
I need more/Life is short.
Drink today in like a bottle of whiskey/
Tomorrow it might just be empty.
I see the rain fall out in the distance/
Here the sun is bright and it’s clear/
So as long as we all stand together/
Let it pour/
Life is Short.
I worry about tomorrow/
Sometimes yesterday/
Then realize I’ve only got today/
Life is short.
Today I can love you, today I can care/
Tomorrow we might not be here.
Drink today in like a shot of good whiskey/
Empty the bottle don’t wait ‘til tomorrow.
Lay the whole deck on the table today/
Don’t wait ‘til tomorrow to play.
Drink in today like you’re thirsty/
Tomorrow belongs to no one.
Today is the day to hold on to/
Tomorrow is promised to none.
I walked in here with nothin’/
I’ll leave with just the same.
I got no promise when I started/
I still have none today.
A step toward tomorrow/
Closes distance on today.
Every day we try to get better/
Put a little light in our lives.
Put away the things that don’t matter/
Focus on the things you can change.
Do you ever sit and wonder/
What’s out there in the distance.
Today you’ve got a million dreams/
Tomorrow maybe none.
Does the view ever change/
If you don’t take a different road.
Will tomorrow begin/
Like today never ended.
Today came to an end/
And tomorrow’s not my friend.
The sounds of desperation/
From deep within the soul.
I watch the end of one night/
While the sunrise lights the sky.
I know that you’re still with me/
I know that you’re always here.
No matter what we’ve been through/
No matter where you go.
Your love is still around me/
I’m wrapped in that embrace.
I’m sure love goes on forever/
In my heart I feel it fly.
There’s a burning question in the soul/
It’s there if you’re young or you’re old.
We worry ‘bout the things that don’t matter/
And everything that we can’t change.
There’s a burning fire within the soul/
It’s there if you’re young or old
No one knows the answer/
But the question’s always there.
Every heartbeat moves you/
A little closer to the end.
Time has a desperate hold/
On everyone you know.
Now we can’t lose/
All we have between us/
We can choose/
Keep our own sides/
We can stay/
Together I believe there’s time/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
Some nights you spend/
Holding to your answer/
Here I stand/
Holdin’ to mine/
I can bend/
I won’t break to make you right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
It’s the heart/
Keepin’ us together/
There it starts/
Where we have ties/
If we stand/
Together we’ll be alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
Are you prepared/
To keep us both together/
This is rare/
The light we can shine/
I’ll be here/
Tryin to keep our light in line/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
If I could choose/
I’d pull us to the middle/
You don’t move/
There’s always a side/
I don’t know/
How to make the darkness shine/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
We’ve still got time/
Close a little distance/
One straight line/
Here to your side/
Close the gap/
Try to keep the hope alive/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
Well I’d like to try/
Walk this road together/
Side by side/
Open our minds/
We can close/
Distance if we just keep tryin’/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
And when we push and pull/
One side and the other/
We’re both sure/
We’ve got the prize/
Look around/
There’s common ground we can find/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit with We’re and We’ve instead of You and You’ve)
When we’re miles apart/
Movin’ to the middle/
Then the heart/
Opens our eyes/
It’s not hard/
Together we’ll be just fine/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
When we have hope/
It answers every question/
Hold it close/
Know we’re alright/
We’ll work hard/
Friends will always be just fine/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
If I had to lose/
Anything between us/
I’d have to choose/
Space and lost time/
We’ve spent days/
Standin’ when we should be flyin’/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
And when we push and pull/
One side and the other/
You’re so sure/
You’ve got the prize/
Look around/
There’s common ground we can find/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
When they all fall down/
Walls that stand between us/
There’s no sound/
They quietly die/
I’ve been wrong/
That won’t always make you right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
If I had to lose/
Anything between us/
Think I’d choose/
Space and lost time/
We’ve both used/
Words that never helped us fly/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
And when we push and pull/
One side and the other/
You’re so sure/
You’ve got the prize/
Lost and found/
There’s common ground we can find/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit with some different ideas)
If we meet halfway/
One side to the other/
Who’s to say/
What we might find/
It’s for sure/
Together we can be just fine/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
So when life pulls down/
It’s one side or the other/
Lost and found/
Clearly we’re fine/
I feel sure/
You and I will be alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit with edits to several lines)
Guess I could rack my brain/
Tryin’ to find a reason/
Go insane/
Lookin’ for signs/
I’ll spend days/
To make it work out alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit with edits from Beth’s input)
And when life pulls down
Hope can be the answer/
Lost and found/
Not out of time/
I look hard/
Over there and on this side/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit with edits from Beth’s input)
We can’t meet here/
The road has gotten narrow/
Through the years/
(It’s) never been wide/
I’ll keep fear/
Far away so we can try/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I stand right here/
Not far from the canyon/
The view’s not clear/
Hope a light shines/
There’s no fear/
Standin’ on the other side/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I looked straight up/
Stars are gettin’ brighter/
I’ve got luck/
Here on my side/
Don’t get stuck/
Thinkin’ that you’re always right/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
Guess I could rack my brain/
Tryin’ to find a reason/
Go insane/
Lookin’ for signs/
There’s no chance/
You would ever see this side/
‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case (BNC)/
Does it really matter?/
Lose the race/
We’ll still be fine/
In this place/
You can always take a side/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I took your hand/
Walked you to the answers/
You still stand/
There on your side/
I’ve got plans/
Friends will always be just fine/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
Guess I could rack my brain/
Tryin’ to find a reason/
Go insane/
Lookin’ for signs/
There’s no chance/
Answers can be far behind/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We both have thoughts/
Things that we believe in/
Mine don’t stop/
When you draw a line/
We’re both free/
Find whatever makes it right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit to clean up line 6)
Took it all apart/
Put it back together/
A piece of art/
Tattered from time/
If we start/
I think we can make it shine/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I tear my heart/
Into little pieces/
Throw the parts/
Up to the sky/
Not sure when/ (if?)
It’ll ever come back by/
Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
When life pulls down/
Hope can find an answer/
Lost then found/
Clearly we’re fine/
I feel sure/
You and I will be alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit to clean up some lines)
When I see your face/Lookin’ for an answer/
(I) State my case/ (BNC)
Say all my lines/
You’ve got doubts/
Friends are on the other side/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
So long ago/
We stood here together/
Now we don’t/
We’re in our lines/
I’d step out/
Meet you on the other side/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
Now I don’t see you/
With any kind of anger/
It’s the truth/
This is no lie/
You’ll see me/
Friendly on another side/
Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
I see the signs/
Out there in the distance/
One says left/
The other one right/
You picked one/
That’s the way you see your life/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
So it’s laid bare/
Distance in between us/
I’m not scared/
(Of) crossing that line/
I’ve got hope/
Nothing is too hard to find/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
Oh the lines are clear/
One side and the other/
I’m right here/
You’re on that side/
I still hope/
For common ground we can find/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
Now we’ve walked down/
Tougher roads together/
Can’t stop now/
Don’t you see why?/
Every step/
Takes us to a place we fly/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
When life pulls down/
Hope can find an answer/
Hear that sound/
Clearly we’re fine/
I feel sure/
You and I can be alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We climbed that hill/
Hit the top together/
That’s the thrill/
That’s how we fly/
I believe/
We can make it all worth while/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We’ve pushed and pulled/
Is there any reason?/
Hearts are full/
Distance is fine/
Don’t believe/
Anyone is always right/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
We both have thoughts/
Things that we believe in/
Mine don’t stop/
When you draw a line/
We’re both free/
Find the truth that feels just right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
It just feels right/
Standing here together/
When the light/
Opens our eyes/
I stand here/
Yes I’m on the other side/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
It feels so right
All that I believe in/
You may fight/
Think that I’m blind/
I won’t change/
Anything I hold inside/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I paced the floor/
Listened to the silence/
We’ve got more/
Words we can find/
I’ll talk all night/
If we really both keep tryin’/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
So it’s alright/
Things we don’t agree on/
No more fights/
Wasting our time/
(We) Both hold firm/
Anytime we think we’re right/
So I’m never gonna change your mind.
A slice of light
Cuts into the darkness
Not too bright
Oh but it shines
Hope can live
You and I can be alright
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We don’t agree/
That can be forever/
We’re both free/
(To) Have our own minds/
Hope can live/
You and I can be alright/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We’ve run this race/
Couldn’t pick a winner/
There’s your lane/
I’ll stay in mine/
We’ve got time/
I know we can make it right/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
We’ve both faced/
Longer roads together/
I won’t waste/
Anymore time/
We can close/
Distance if we just keep tryin’/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.

I state my case (BNC)/
Lookin’ for a reason/
I just can’t face/
Silence tonight/
I need words/
That help me find a light to shine/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I state my case (BNC)/
Hopin’ you believe me/
But I’m still faced/
With your silent side/
We just race/
But never see the end in sight/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I state my case (BNC)/
Hopin’ that you hear me/
That there’s a place/
I’ll see a sign/
(I) won’t save face
Just to let you say you’re right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
(So) I stand my ground/
Give you all my reasons/
I hope you’ve found/
Some that feel right/
(I) won’t back down/
Just to let you say you’re right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
You stand your ground/
Try to state your reasons/
I know that sound/
I know the sight/
(I) won’t back down/
Just to let you say you’re right/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
I won’t back down/
Tryin’ to make it easy/
You stand your ground/
(We’ve) both got the right/
There’s no need/
For us to be apart tonight/
‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
The sun goes down/
Fallin’ like the silence/
I hear no sound/
Day turned to night/
Let’s not waste/
Time that we could make this right/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
(Resubmit edit line 3, 4, 5 and 6)

I raise my voice/
Tryin’ to break the silence/

You stand your ground/
Maybe we can reason/
Hear a new sound/
Find a bright light/
(But) I won’t change/
So you be the one who’s right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
Well I won’t spend/ (BNC)
Another day in silence/
This all could end/
Without a fight/
Just give me/
Somethin’ that can make this right/
Or I’m never gonna change your mind.

(Changed line 6 with Kevin’s input)
A long night ends/
Standin’ in our corners/
I think I’ll spend/
The day with a smile/
You’re still here/
Knowin’ you’re not always right/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I won’t take/
Another night of silence/
We need to break/
Down all the lines/
We don’t agree/
And isn’t that just alright/
‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
I won’t live/(BNC)
Another night in silence/
We need to give/
Any good sign/
We can let/
Distance in between us lie/
‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.

We’re not knocked down/
Resting awhile/
I believe/
In pushin’ ‘til we make it right/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I keep your heart/
Backed into a corner/(BNC)
You’d do your part/
Tryin’ to break free/
Life like that/
Makes you wonder why you’re tryin’
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
A great divide/(BNC)
Lyin’ there between us/
It’s deep and wide/

A way around/
I’ll meet you on the other side/

We’ll walk the streets/
Lookin’ for an answer/
You might just see/
No one is blind/
You find fault/
You never know the reason why/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could slam the door/
Walk away in anger/
I don’t need war/
Just a fair fight/
There’s no chance/
I’ve never seen a single sign/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I can sing my songs/
Lookin’ for an answer/
I’ll stay too long/
Lookin’ for rhymes/
Can’t be wrong/
For us to just talk and try/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
When I see your smile/
I forget your anger/
I’m like a child/
Lost here in time/
Words roar back/
None of them are soft and kind/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
We could walk the streets/

I’ll make it fine/
Face to face/
Everything is in your eyes/
And I’m never gonna change you mind.
I can see your light/
Hidin’ in the shadows/
I’ve got no fight/
Left in me now/
I’ll just wait/
For anything we left behind/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could slam the door/

I’m always on the other side/
Hopin’ there’s a better way to live/
You can push away and hold to pride/
But I can hold my own and just forgive.
Do we ever find a place/
(Where) we haven’t drawn a line in the sand/
Will we ever find the perfect space/
You never think we will I think we can.
It’s always been a game we play/
To swallow every word that’s true/
But all the words we never say/
Just put us in a place where we can lose.
Well I’m always gonna be right here/
I’m hardened like a river stone/
And even if I see your tears/
I’ll never walk away from all we’ve known.
There’s every chance we fall apart/
Nothin’ that we do we get for free/
Gonna try to hold you in my heart/
And I hope you’re gonna try to hold me.
I listen to the words you say/
Guess I need to make another plan/
And lookin’ at the world today/
Theres nothin’ that would change the place you stand.
I’m always on the other side/
Just lookin’ for some common ground/
Well there’s nothin’ in the world like pride/
To make you take a side and stake it down.

I give you all the space you need to grow/
Oh but trust me every now and then/
I’m thinkin’ of the love I want to show.

Somethin made us come this far/

Now I see it bright and shinin your eyes.
We’re livin through some real hard times/
All we need is just a little spark/
(But)while we’re livin’ in it we stay blind/
Need a shinin’ light to guide us through the dark.
We’re livin through some real hard times/
All we need is just a little spark/
But in the middle of it we’re all blind/
‘Til we see a light come shinin’ through the dark.
There’s every chance we fall apart/
Nothin’ that we do we get free/
Gonna try to hold you in my heart/
And I hope you’re gonna try to hold me.
If I ever find a way inside/
I’ll move until I push right through/
You can never say that I stopped tryin’/
‘Cause nothin’ could be further from the truth.
I’m always on the other side/

You tell me that there isn’t any way/
So you’re standin’ in a cold hard wind/
And you’re hopin’ that I’ll head the other way.
You’ve never been the one to move/
(1/4 note rest) Even in a hurricane wind/
And you’ll tell me that I can’t undo/
Anything that pushed us to the end.

Can’t believe there’s a mountain we have to climb/I’m never gonna change your mind.

Hope can live where there’s never any warm sunshine/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/Try to win you over/Tell you face to face/Say it so fine/
Hope can live take us through the worst of times/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/Try to win you over/Tell you face to face/Say it so fine/
Hope can live when love is still the bottom line/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/Try to win you over/Tell you face to face/Say it so fine/
Hope can live somewhere in between the lines/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/Try to win you over/Tell you face to face/Say it so fine/
Hope can live right between what’s yours and mine/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I can sing my songs/Lookin’ for an answer/Will I stay too long?/That could be fine/Can’t be wrong for us to just talk and try/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could take your hand/Lead you to the answers/Or take a stand/Show you a sign/Spend the night waitin’ for the light to shine/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could take your hand/Lead you to the answers/This is where I stand/We’ll be just fine/Now I found there’s somethin’ that I can’t do/I’m never gonna change your mind.
So if you think you’re right/Who am I to tell you/You’ll fight a good fight/I can own mine/Face to face there’s a hard look in your eyes/I’m never gonna change you mind.
I could talk all night/Hope that you can hear me/But words I say won’t/
Open your mind/Turn your back all reason heads for the door/I’m never gonna change your mind.
We could talk all night/I could never tell you/My thoughts are so bright/
Everything shines/Turn your back and reason heads for the door/I’m never gonna change your mind.
You believe you’re right/Who am I to tell you?/My thoughts are so bright/Everything shines/Face to face I see by the look in your eyes/I’m never gonna change you mind.
I could state my case/Try to win you over/Tell you to your face/Hear me sometime/When you hear will you ever listen at all?/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I can sing my songs/Lookin’ for an answer/Will I stay too long?/That could be fine/Can’t be wrong for us to just talk it through/Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
We could walk the streets/Lookin’ for an answer/You could finally see/Neither one’s blind/I know you, you believe I’m wrong, you’re right/And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could take your hand/Lead you to the answers/Tell you where I stand/See what we find/I just found there’s somethin’ I just can’t do/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could love you more/Give you every reason/For closing’ that door/Turn on a dime/Now I’ve found somethin’ even love can’t do/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could hold you tight/Try to win you over/Or face the fight, and/Try to be kind/
Can’t believe there’s somethin’ my love can’t do/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could slam the door/Walk away in anger/Or walk the hard floors/They used to shine/Talk all night but there’s somethin’ I just can’t do/I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you to your face/
That everything’s fine/
Right or wrong we can find what’s in between/
But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could take your hand/
Lead you to the answers/
Or take a stand/
Show you a sign/
Spend the night wait until the light shines through/But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could take your hand/ Walk you to the answers/ Take a stand/ Show you the signs/ In the end it’s a battle I’m bound to lose/ ‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could tell my side/
Your heart might listen/
But all of your pride/
Makes you go blind/
I can’t climb the wall, I can’t find a door/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could stand my ground/
Push you for an answer/
Or back right down/
Turn out the lights/
Will you hear a word I have to say?/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could give up ground/
Back into a corner/
Never make a sound/
Avoid every fight/
Life like that only tears us apart/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you face to face/
Say it so fine/
Hope can live somewhere in that middle ground/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you face to face/
Cry ‘til I’m blind/
But wind’s gonna blow, the rain’s still got to fall/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could talk real sweet/
Try to win you over/
Or stare at my feet/
And cry ‘til I’m blind/
Can’t move a mountain but I love you anyway/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you to your face/
Show you a sign/
I could cry big tears to convince you I’m right/But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you to your face/
Show you a sign/
The world we’re in won’t let us find common ground/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case/
Try to win you over/
Tell you to your face/
Show you a sign/
Here I stand waitin’ ‘til the light comes through/But I’m never gonna change your mind.
Well that heart won’t lie/
It’ll win you over/
Hold you up high/
When your friends aren’t kind/
Here I am looking for a pathway through/But I’m never gonna change your mind.
I can sing my songs/
Lookin’ for an answer/
I’ll stay too long/
If I find a good rhyme/
But would it be that bad if we sat and just talked it through?/
Though I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could state my case
Try to win you over
Tell you to your face
You’ll hear me sometime
But when you hear do I think you’ll listen at all?
I’m never gonna change your mind
I can’t love you more/
That you never question/
It’s a thing so pure/
No reason or rhyme/
With all that love there’s nothing that I can say/
I’m never gonna change your mind.
We could walk the streets/
Lookin’ for an answer/
We might both see/
Neither one’s blind/
But I know you well, you believe I’m wrong, you’re right
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
I could hand in hand/
Walk you to the answers/
Take my stand/
Show you the signs/
But when the day is done it’s a battle I’m bound to lose/
‘Cause I’m never gonna change your mind.
We could talk all night/
But I could never tell you/
I’m so bright/
My argument shines/
But when you turn your back, reason heads for the door/
And I’m never gonna change your mind.
You believe you’re right/
Who am I to tell you/
That I’m so bright/
My reasons all shine/
But face to face I can see by the look in your eyes/
I’m never gonna change you mind.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/Got nothn’ I can say you haven’t heard.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/No beautiful word in the world you’d hear.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/I’ve got nothin’ I can say you haven’t heard.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/all the beautiful words in the world wont do.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/There’s no beautiful word in the world you’d hear
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/I’ll never find a way to be that strong.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/no beautiful word will ever find a way.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/all the beautiful words in the world wont do.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/not a pretty word that I could ever say.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/no word that I can tell you has a chance.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/no beauty I can show you has a chance.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/no beautiful words I say sound true.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/even after all the beautiful words.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/would you listen even if I tried
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/We’ll never see the world the same
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/doesn’t matter what words I choose.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/doesn’t matter what words I use.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
Pretty words won’t work on you
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
Pretty words won’t find a way
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
Even beautiful rhymes won’t do
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
Beautiful words won’t do
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/no beautiful words will do.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
I’m never gonna be that strong
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/and I’ll never turn a gray sky blue
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/like I can’t make a gray sky blue
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/and you’ll never find a way to change mine.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/I could never step across that line.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/I can’t travel that road for you.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/doesn’t matter what beautiful words I use.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/it’s like a river on the way to the sea
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
We could argue ‘til the sun goes down/
Tomorrow you’ll be walkin’ the same line/
I’m never gonna turn you around.
Well I’m never gonna change your mind/
Doesn’t matter what words I use/
If I’m angry or I’m soft and kind/
You’re the one who has to choose.
