About Me

Years don’t define us, struggles don’t define us—random moments define us. Eric Elven and Aileen Asche were two Pacific Northwest transplants and lifelong musicians magnetized to New York by the pull of art, adventure, and the promise of a new life. Out of 8 million people in Gotham the pair experienced a fateful encounter at a Manhattan house party that indelibly changed their artistic and romantic trajectories. Nearly 10 years later, the Brooklyn-based pair has become a beloved acoustic duo known for a sophisticated strain of Americana that melds jazz elegance with folky earthiness. At the core of Eric and Aileen’s songs, are crystalline piano melodies, crisp strummed guitar accompaniment, dreamy harmony vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and achingly beautiful vocal melodies. These songs reflect the couple’s shared sentiments of love, longing, and personal reflection. At times, their tunes are sonic postcards home to the friends and family they left behind. Currently, Eric and Aileen have an EP released, and the couple are now embracing a fresh era of collaborative creativity with a brace of new recordings.

My Lyrics

Let's catch our breath now/ We can rest here for awhile/ And when you're ready I'll be ready/ Slow and steady
Into the gap we fall a dream inside a dream/ But here I am the light you carry/ And I carry
Into the gap you fall a dream inside a dream/ But here I am and I will carry/ I will carry
All this distraction and the dream becomes a dream/ But here I am and I will carry/ I will carry
Upon a time and once inside/ The Crooked Dream/ I heard a voice that I could barely/ Trust to carry
I feel it Brother/ I know Sister you do too/ May we remember that we carry/ Oh we carry
I see you Sister/ And my Brother I see you/ May we remember that we carry/ Oh we carry
I'll carry carry you/ Even through the moonless night/ When I forget to look inside/ And trust my very life
When it's dark/ When the moon she's turning blue/ And the stars are hidden too/ Well you know what you can do
It's alright now/ We're just rolling down the line/ Feel the beat and find the rhyme/ 1, 2, 3...
I will sing to you this song until you can carry on
You would sing to me this tune and then I would sing it too
You would sing to me this song and then I would sing along
I am here and I can hold every story that you know
I am here for you to hold, when you're ready to let go...
I am here for you to hold, When you're ready let it go...
Singing Hallelujah, Singing Hallelujah
I will carry you, Breathing in just you and I, I will carry you, Let go hey it's alright
I will carry you, Breathing in hey we're alive, I will carry you, Let go now it's alright
So let’s go inside, we’ll get through the night
Now the MidNight Blue, We will see it through
With the rising tide, I'll be by your side
Now the MidNight Blue, We will see it through
Now the turning tide, It's okay to cry...
Just a babe (hey) from that twinkle in your eye to your arms all open wide it's the truth... you carried me, and...
We were leading from the rooftops/ It was 2010/ From village to village to village/ In Afghanistan
I have been loyal to something other/ than my brother/ and my sister/ and myself
I've been lonely but/I haven't seen that/Until Now
