Up they flew in a whirl of starlight and snow/ And for the first time in years Santa laughed: “Ho-ho-ho!”
As he flew, he hatched a return from obscurity: / "I'll bribe family dogs with treats and disable security! / Then down chimneys I'll creep, with this one goal: / To bring good children gifts, the bad ones coal!"
"Life's full of second chances!" the Bunny exclaimed / "Happiness is in giving, so take up the reins!"
"Look here," said the Bunny, rattling his glass and poking Claus' chest / "All's not lost, so here is your test: / Gryla, Fouettaard, Perchta - forgotten! / Will you go the way of Hans Trapp, Belsnickel, and Tomten?"
Out popped a sleigh, the damnedest thing he'd ever seen / And when he peered closer, it read "Time Traveling Machine"!
Curious, he bent over, scratching his ass / Mumbling and grumbling, he pulled out his spyglass
He has many names by whom you'll know / Lend me your ear to learn his M.O. :
[Alternate lyrics:] If midnight break-ins are alright with you / He'll leave you toys, but steals your brew
He'll sneak in your home after watching you / And he'll stuff your socks if you leave him a brew
Way up up the mountain top, Krampus rattled chains but St. Nick had a game: Hie to the tun, put the kiddies in the middle, they'll see just who behaves!
Way up the alpine mountain top, Kramups and ol' St. Nick bickered bitterly over a brew
So far have we come, from those gas clouds a-glowing / Will we set adrift the stars, do we know where we're going?
Swinging down from our family trees, what story leave for the ages? / Will we leave each other in the dust, or boldly go together to make these better places?
So if we're all from that cosmic womb, are we not sisters, brothers? / What will we do to take care of this, our cosmic family? / Will we forget to do unto others?
So when we all return to our mothers, did we fulfill her hopes my sisters and brothers? / When we return to the clouds, what did we do to better ourselves?
Looking down from space our cities are the stars upon the ground / While looking to the sky the real stars are no longer to be found...
Where do we go from here? Will we be brave enough to take the reins? / Are we willing to release control, or shall we create our own destiny?
We are all animals, the earth our zoo / Longing for that other world, or somewhere to escape to...
Pundits on the TV, hosts on the radio, it's time to turn it off because life is my own show...
Because I don't know what comes next / But until then I'll be swinging on the arm of the Milky Way...
Because we are all star dust / Swirling in the nebula / Circling like a satellite / Waiting for a signal / Looking for a sign / Trying to find our place / Making our own meaning in life...
At first we painted our hands upon walls in negative space / Until we learned to set our foot onto another place / Leaping from Earth to moon to Mars until we find our place among the stars...
For we were born in this cosmic sea / Adrift and waiting to discover ourselves / While swinging on the arm of the Milky Way...
Queen of the night, spangled in stars / I'd pull the sky down just to be closer to where you are / To set the moon upon your neck like a jewel / And fashion the zodiac into a diadem for your brow / But you're cloaked in shadows and seem so far...
Satellites stuck in Lagrange / Over and out, we're tuning in / We each have our own history / From ancient Chaldea to NDGT
Crawling night of the cosmic sea / The children of fathomless depths are we...
We're all orbiting / The universe seeks to know itself / Looking out as we look within...
Beyond the fire-flies and spinning satellites / We trace our stories across the skies...
You will always show as the brightest soul I'll know / Lighting my way - a glowing beacon through the ages / So that as each millennia passes I am led back to you / And in turn, you will always find me...
My love for you dwarfs any galaxy / And if I could make reality from verse / I would give thee the universe.
