"I had to think about the hope you know you‘ll know... which could be a sticky point. Hope that deep inside you know... but I think the more clear idea that hits the heart is that in heaven he hopes she knows him again... that’s emotional and clear without adding the extra part that he hope she knows That she’ll know... but yes, I like this idea a lot that she’ll be In heaven knowing everything again while he is down here missing things... albeit just temporarily "

jaynesachs commented on Blue's lyric:

"I picture him looking at her walking into a room. What would he notice? Would she throw her head back and smile at everyone? Would she find him and wink at him? What are those little sweet details he will miss? Would she laugh?
Maybe the walking into a room
takes up too much real estate in the bridge. How about going for individual thoughts? I’m thinking of my late dad this morning as I’m thinking of this bridge. I’m thinking of his soft voice until he was mad, his bad jokes, his laugh that would go silent when he was really laughing, etc... it’s tough to narrow these thoughts down... but if we can find these emotional thoughts that this son would really be thinking, we could have something special. "

jaynesachs commented on Blue's lyric:

"I understand the void. For sure. I lost my mom when I was 12. She was 37. I only know of “missing things” from a kid’s point of view with her.. and then what I have missed all these years not having a mother. So a bit of a different perspective.
By the way... for the first line of V2, I changed it to get his age (5) in there so the listener knows right away it was a childhood memory. I thought about it as it was submitted and thought it may have come across that he was going to talk about him crying the same night that his mom was looking at the Xmas picture. Just wanted to tell you why I tweaked that line!"

"I remember me crying that one night at 3am How you ran to my room cause you knew I was frightened to death"

jaynesachs commented on Blue's lyric:

"Can I challenge you to write a second line that doesn’t need to be explained by any line to follow? So a stand alone line that is still visual... Ie.. her rushing in to get rid of the monsters under his bed. Then we can continue with more memories perhaps and in that one line we understand he is a kid and she is the protector but it can easily go on to other thoughts not related to him
Being rescued in a follow up line. Or maybe he gets rescued in other ways as he gets older..
I’m being picky with you because you’re a great writer. The word “rode” made me wonder what she was riding. I know what you mean. She rode in on a white horse to save him.... but I know you have a great line in you for this
section! I have ultimate faith!!!"

jaynesachs commented on Blue's lyric:

"You take credit for that first line!! I LOVE that you put the word “me” in there which turns it into his perspective now.!! I wonder if that second line could have her running in to get rid of the monsters under his bed or something like that? So we don’t have to explain the dream unless the dream has something to do with the story? I picture the mom running in."

"Maybe “why is this happening”. That’s a line that both could say. I think the son would know her diagnosis... that’s how it hits me especially if he’s there at 3 in the morning taking care of her... so he might not say “what on earth’s happening to me”. ?? .. unless he’s Reflecting on the role change or he is so surprised at how torn up he is or he’s losing his composure, if that’s the case we’d have to point to that in V2. "Cool way of saying things Blue. You’re such a good writer that I’d love for you to (if so inspired) write a chorus that is is in a really conversational tone.. how someone in her situation would actually explain it with words that could then be said by him. Like I feel a woman in this situation would talk about the emotions in a very direct heartfelt way. She’s missing things now but soon it might be everything and she’s scared.
I hope you don’t mind me challenging you here!! It’s because I am SO darn curious as to what your ultra creative mind comes up with !"

jaynesachs commented on Blue's lyric:

"Hey again! Thanks for explaining! If we were in a room together, this is the kind of conversations we would be having. Writing a song for country that you're hoping can get pitched is a different beast for sure!! I came from the indie world as an alt/pop artist-writer and in that genre, anything goes. I had such a big learning curve when I stepped into the Nashville market. It is the most challenging writing I've ever done. Chris and I are just trying to pass along some of that hard earned knowledge. The industry has changed so much since songs like "Ode To Billy Joe" hit radio. Even then I heard that they didn't think it could be a hit and it ended up being a smash! But I imagine if that song were turned in today, no one would touch it. One reason is because most people who are doing
A & R for artists hear so many songs that they may only listen to a verse/chorus if you're lucky and therefore never get to any kind of reveal at the end. I wish it wasn't that way. But I deal with that same thing when I turn a song into my publisher who then pitches to A&R, or someone on the team. He knows what will get people's attention and you need to try to hook them in fast in some unique way that doesn't leave too many questions up in the air. One song of the year that did this so beautifully is "I Drive Your Truck"... it does have a slower reveal but clues the listener in on that first set up to the chorus, so you know that grief is involved. Such a masterpiece! Anyway, Chris and I are hoping to give everyone a bit of insight into this specific market. I almost quit Nashville at first because it kind of went against my sensibilities as a writer.... and then I was like "Damn, I can do this!" and soon after we had interest from Garth on a song that he went as far as putting a vocal on... but ultimately passed on it. But damn if that didn't hook me into continuing to go for it!! You're a beautiful writer.

Play you that song Garth sang Cause you didn't miss "The Dance"
You may not know who I am I'll never forget who you are
The way that you held my hand I love you forever and....
And hold onto the hope (that) In Heaven you'll know me again
And hope that somehow you know In Heaven you'll know me again
Tried bending my heart to God's will
It's been a long time since I cried
If dandelion wishes came true
You never let me get lost
The tilt of your head when I did something wrong The sweet words you said when you heard my first song Your Queen Anne chair, braided hair, White Shoulders in the air God, there's no end to this list Of things that I already miss
This time the monster is coming for you You need a rescue but what can I do? I'll hold your hand and keep loving you through what life brings...Missing things
The smile in your eyes...your favorite perfume The way that I felt when you'd walk in the room I'm trying for strong...is it wrong to ask why Cause this is the longest goodbye
I remember being 5 & crying at 3am/ You ran to my room to chase monsters from under my bed
Now it's 3am and I'm on the edge of my bed With a pain in my heart and a picture of us in my head
Mama do you remember when I had my accident How you spent every night in a chair by my hospital bed
I remember me crying that one night at 3am How you ran to my room cause you knew I was frightened to death
I remember me crying that one night at 3am In the blink of an eye, you rode to my rescue again
I remember me crying that one night at 3am am (Jayne Sachs) Wide awake in my bed cause I’d just had that bad dream again
Feel so alone and afraid Tryin' to hold on to a past that's long gone And a future that's started to fade I'm missing things
Why is this happening to me (Jayne Sachs) I'm still surprised when I look in your eyes Scared to death you'll only see Missing things
What on earth's happening to me I'm still surprised when I look in your eyes Scared to death you'll only see Missing things
So much has started to fade Sometimes it feels like this just isn't real But I'm real afraid Of missing things
And most nights I'm fighting my fears I swear I been trying but I would be lying If I told you that I wasn't scared Of missing things
Things slipping right through my hands Sit down by me cause I need you to be One thing I still understand I'm missing things
Things slipping right through my hands Come and sit down cause I need you right now And there's do much I don't understand I'm missing things
Pieces won't fall into place Can't catch my used-to-be's...Can't touch these memories That I chase....I'm missing things
It's gettin' hard to see These clouds come around now these shadows are fallin' all over me...over me So I'm missing things
While I sat with a shadow and tried holding on to the past And I reached for your hand as you silently slipped through my grasp
Well the face was familiar but you couldn't tell me her name You were fading away like the lady who lives in that frame
Now I'm sleepless and stuck with this picture of us in my head Tried counting sheep but I wound up just counting regrets
And I can't get to sleep cause that picture is stuck in my head Tried counting sheep but I just wind up counting regrets...Awake and
That pillow you clung to like it was your one true friend
A piece of a puzzle that's trying to solve me again
With your face to the wall I was already facing the end
A dream can be a candle in the dark I see the flicker in your eyes...I recognize that spark
The rock that blocks the path you planned Is waiting to go back to being just a grain of sand
And the gift of love Is gonna lift us up
Dreams and songs are gifts that lift our spirits to the sky Open up your heart and ride the river rushing by
A tiny trickle turns into a stream A stream becomes a river on the day it learns to dream
If I can coax, a trembling note or two The music holds the mirror to the miracle that's you
Cause when the notes that we are meant to sing Stick in our throats we need what only harmony can bring
You know I don't gamble but buddy I'm ready to bet There's lots more to do because God isn't through with you yet
Did you ever see a baby take her first step? Yeah...me too Or step over a flower pushing through a sidewalk crack And maybe crack a smile as you do
Ever see a baby take her first step? Yeah...me too
The size of the lie will not make it true/ The clouds don’t make the sky less blue
Cause...wrong isn't right and right isn't wrong Sing the American Wonder Song Stronger tonight if you sing along Sing the American Wonder Song Yeah down isn't up and up isn't down In the American Underground (Credit Adam Byrn) In the American Underground La la la la la la la la la The American Underground
Plows aren't swords and swords aren't plows...in the American Underground We've looked at peace from all sides now In the American Underground
Dreamers unite as the walls fall down In the American Underground Cause no one is painting the passports brown In the American Underground
Hope can be known and how can be found In the American Underground Calling for you to come join us now In the American Underground....
So let's bathe in the sunshine...the gaslight's way too dim/ Help open up the closed minds and let the truth pour in
And slipping through the shadows that spill across the night We've seen them try to swallow the logic of the light
So listen for the voices of children yet unborn Let them reveal the choices that steer us through the storm
Hope can be known and how can be found In the American Underground Calling on you to come join us now In the American Underground La LA LA LA...LA LA LA LA LA American Underground LA LA LA...LA LA LA LA LA American Underground....repeat and fade (credit to Jill for the LA LA idea?)
A little revolution starts a wheel to rolling 'round A little evolution and more missing hearts are found...in the American Underground
America's been stuck inside the Lost and Found Let's get her out Your heart knows how With love, The American Underground
And we don't need the clown car or the clown And we won't grieve the circus leaving town....not us, the American Underground
A new horizon's shining for us just around the bend...my friend
The way ahead is all about the heart to heart to heart...so let's start
This wounded world won't heal without our help / The wheel has been invented...but it will not turn itself
The rainbow is stronger than the rain The arc that bends towards justice...The path that ends the pain
Cause sunlight is stronger than they know It guides us through the shadows and shows us where to go
Our bodies will never be controlled Declaring it's self evident...this sacred truth we hold
Like petals on a flower...like grapes upon a vineWe grow into our power...one brave seed at a time
They're coming for your body...not coming for your guns Guess every life's not godly...it's just the unborn ones
And when opinion shatters the sanctity we've known We focus on what matters: the scared seeds we've sown
Lies that hide in shadow die...deprived of oxygen Truth's alive and trust survives when we let sunlight in
An honest conversation is hard but it's a start That's how a wounded nation begins to heal its heart
Cause roses burst with brilliance...bloom beautiful and free When watered with resilience and true community
Fault lines drawn in anger feel like they're carved in stone But down below the danger we're all just flesh and bone
The louder the lie the stronger the sound Of the American Underground

A weed becomes a weapon, aimed at you and me/ With trust among the fallen, and truth a casualty
But watered with compassion, a rose remains a flower/ And grows in sweet perfection, towards its purpose and its power
Weeds can block the sunlight and weeds can choke the air We need to tend our garden...before it isn't there
It doesn't take a genius to turn the truth around But lies can't come between us if we're rooted underground

Not every vessel travels on the sea Tonight God's love for you pours out of me
It's not impossible to make a way And feel God's promise at the break of day
The sun will be waking soon And I want to watch that sunrise with you
Like willows in the wind Watching a brand new day begin
What can't be seen tonight, will be revealed tomorrow This mystery called life, can bring more joy than sorrow
You'll know why Tomorrow still shines bright You made it through the night It's gonna be alright And you'll know why
Just one step toward tomorrow, Unlocks open doors Faith holds the key you can borrow, till you can reclaim what is yours
A drop left in the reservoir's enough to start a flow A trickle can become a stream, just ask me how I know
And when that day arrives, you're gonna understand Why we're both on this bridge tonight, two pieces of one plan
We only have the gift of now...this moment that we're in And like this bridge it stretches...from "could be" to "might've been"
No, I don't have a crystal ball. Yeah, some things are unknown But I know God put me here now, for reasons of His own
Give them the gift of time, the gift of growing old And I have faith you'll be repaid, at least a thousand fold
The seeds you planted yesterday still need your love and care How will the garden blossom if the gardener's not there?
They'll still sit down for supper but they'll face an empty chair, They'll say a prayer remembering the face that isn't there
One more candle on the cake One more wish you get to make
First blush of love's first touch Sweet kiss that means so much
The brilliant night sky's canopy The wonder of what's yet to be
The crimson glow as daylight fades The sunrise songbirds serenade
The softness of a newborns skin Her perfume wafting on the wind
When the Devil reaches for your soul to steal it There's an angel who will shield you...can you feel it? I can feel it...I can feel it...
What matters most can feel like mist It's best to hold it with an open fist
Oak trees fall before the fury of the wind But we are willows...we were built to bend
Back to who you'll be tomorrow...past the shadows and the sorrow Back to love and light and oooo...back to you (pamby1's verse tagline)
A single step...a step my way...will keep you safe The only leap you need to take...is a leap of faith
Can you feel that night breeze blowing, can you smell what's on the wind/ Can you hear my heart...it's waiting to begin to beat again
Cause someone's gonna miss you, someone's gonna grieve/ Wishing they could turn back time and give you what you need
One breath...then another, one step at a time/ That's the way the mountain Bends to let us make the climb
Cause life's taught me the hard way, it's a heartbeat at a time/ And broken hearts still beat, so if you just reach out for mine....(reach out for mine)
You feel like giving up, your heart is broken but it's beating. Right now life don't make sense but there's a reason why we're meeting
Cause love can shine a light, be a beacon for the blindness That tries to close our eyes to life's wonder and life's kindness
This bridge is haunted by all the ghosts of those who fell, Who fell for all the lies that the Devil likes to tell
The waters down below been promising you something, But the Devil is a liar...that water don't know nothing
I know that empty feeling, like there's nothing left to lose, Cause it wasn't all that long ago when I stood in your shoes
This damn bridge is haunted By ghosts who gave it what it wanted
I don't have a clue But I'd like to talk...would you?
It's awful dark out here tonight I sure could use a little light
You got your reasons...I got mine too You feel like talkin' maybe we could share a few
My heart is listening We don't need words
Hey...Can I get a little help?
Pandora's Smile
The Lift
Cloud Shine
Unbroken
Cloudburst
This Earth's a speck of blue A glistening drop of dew Clinging to a single blade of green
Butterflies in flight Wings beat back the night It's gonna be alright...just wait and see
As we live and believe We will give and receive The beautiful blessings of love
We were born with the answer Love is the dance...and life is the dancer
Time will dry our tears And doubts will disappear As caring erases it all* (credit to Kayly)*
Now each time you whisper I can hear your echo call now each time I stumble you'll be there to break my fall
A recipe that nourishes and fills our emptiness A heaping cup of kindness and a sprinkle of respect
The beam of life repeating like the pulsing of a star
A bolt of blue repeating like a beacon in the dark
Ahead we see the finish that was hidden at the start
Impossible is possible as sparks light up the dark
As shadows lift we feel the sunlight's kiss upon our skin As chaos shifts the healing gift of harmony begins
Like flowers turn their faces to the sky to find the sun Our yearning hearts are turning to the love in everyone
Like gray days need the rainbow glow that comes after the storm Our shaken hearts need kindness and respect to keep us warm
Respect can be that breath of air, that helps refresh our souls/ Kindness can be our heart's repair, that heals and makes us whole
We can be the pebble, feel the Butterfly Effect We can spread the ripple, with kindness and respect...kindness and respect
Winds have been the hurricane, now let them bring the calm Rains have brought the flood of pain, now let them pour the balm
Kindness is the quiet cure For all the madness we've endured
Kindness is the warm sunshine That parts the clouds that crowd our minds
So let's go old school...let's go Golden Rule Put this distance behind us
Let's dig deep...we know what we need And we already know where to find it
We don't need a miracle to put this pain behind us Just a mixture of respect and the milk of human kindness
When life's a dead end road surrounded by a ten foot wall Remember roads can bend and walls can fall
Sharing this marble spin in space It takes grit...but it also takes some grace
All the best things start With an open heart...an open heart
It feels a little risky to look you in the eye Move past the mask and take a chance but we just gotta try
Trudging through the darkness in a fog that will not lift It's time to shine the light we share and give the world our gift
Step by weary step we've wept and yet we've come this far Take a breath with me and let's remember who we are
Searching for direction we've been stumbling in the dark Fumbling for the compass we all carry in our hearts
And me, I haven't smiled much myself in quite a while
Like kindness is imprisoned And respect has been exiled
Respect is on the witness stand As kindness goes on trial
A minute lasts for hours and an inch stretches for miles
Let's fix that with a vaccine that does not come from a vial
Our eyes can't mask the sadness that has worn us for a while
It's time to take a breath or two and try to understand It's time to build a bridge to you as I reach out my hand
The sound of one hand clapping is a plea...a poem...a prayer But two hands clap the rhythm of the heartbeat we all share
I know deep in my soul we're really not that far apart Eight billion of us suffering the same damn broken heart
Been so much fear behind the white hot noise Been hard to hear that kind and quiet voice
An honest conversation spans the space and builds a bridge
And search for common ground beneath our shifting constant skies For any sign of kindness in each other's mirror eyes
To bridge this distance...breach these walls Is anybody listening...anyone at all?
Since time has been suspended I'm more careful when I wish And when I wish...I wish for this
The echo of my lonely voice Don't fill this emptiness
It's louder than the shouted word It's stronger than the fist
The sound that bridges distances and fills this emptiness
The silence that is louder than this noise
The look that says somebody understands
We've been gathering in silos where we've heard Paul Simon's sound We've been burrowing in bunkers overwhelmed and underground
Shadow on the surface of the sun Blocking light and casting night on everyone
What did Aretha say when Atlas shrugged? Aren't we children longing to be loved?
This weary world's been waiting years...been wading thru too many tears We're drowning in these deep end fears...that take our breath away
Heart to heart...here in the dark/No distance now...and we both know how...
Lose your worries in the dark/honey love has finally found you/And our bodies let us know/what our hearts are gettin' down to
Yeah turn on the Temptations/smooth all around/Cause it's time to bring the romance/it's our time for gettin' down
Ain't no distance when we dance...gettin' lost and gettin' found/Ain't no distance when we dance...gettin' up and gettin' down
Ride the rainbow at the speed of sound/Goin' up up up...and gettin' down
You taste the bass line in your bones...I'll shake the loneliness I've known/If I forget your hips know how...now is the time for gettin' down
Now what's lost is found in the motion and the sound/Two hearts are pounding and two souls are gettin' down
Sparks are flying and dark is lit alright/No denying where we're gonna take this night
And you know you leave me breathless, like a precious work of art/But I didn't come this distance just to worship from afar
And you're priceless and you're precious like a work of art alright/But we both know this ain't gonna be a look but don't touch night
But you're not stuck up in a frame behind some velvet rope/You're flesh and blood and when we touch you flood my heart with hope
And you’re standing in your doorway where you meet me with a kiss/And your touch is like a promise and your smile’s like a wish
Cause your kiss is like a whisper telling secrets that we share/And we’re gonna make some new ones just as soon as I get there
Where all this lost gets found...all this lonely turns around/We’re forgetting all this crazy cause we’re both for gettin’ down
And if you believe in magic (and I'm thinkin' that you do/We can make it to another world where music pulls us through
And it don't take but a minute to be hungry for your touch/And the phone won't get it done not when I'm wanting you this much
We been alone for so long 'bout to turn that mess around/Cause I feel the way you feel me now we're up for gettin' down
I know what's gonna happen cause we've both been so alone/For so long...for so long
And the world starts spinning beautifully again/Cause I'm breathing out the ugly just by breathing you in
Goes on sending a message to the marrow of my bones/Goes on telling me something I forgot I'd always known
Goes on sending a message to the marrow of my bones/Goes on telling me something I forgot I'd always known
And it's a hard landing when you crash without a cushion/When gravity is pullin' you and desperation's pushin'
Like dancin' in molasses...been in slo mo for so long/I don't know where my swag is at or where my mojo's gone
Sometimes it's hard gettin' out of bed/Sometimes it's even harder gettin' out of my head
Sometimes it's hard to get out of my bed/Sometimes it's hard to get out of my head
Mother Mercy...Sister Grace/Bring the brightness back my way
It's about to be a sugar show/Shakin' sugar out the sugar bowl
Shake the sacred ground and break the chain/Make the leap and take the freedom train
Ride the rhythm of the wind/Open up and let the music in
Night is moving at the speed of light/Hearts are pounding at the speed of sound
Rhythm pumping up against my chest/Heartbeat hurricane...heartbeat hurricane
There's a light around the moon tonight/There's a brightness in your eyes
Now I know this duet is never gonna end/I love making music with my best friend
Now my heart beats faster when I kiss you/But the world spins slower when I'm with you
You bring the rhythm to my best rhyme/And I need you to write the next line
The past has been wiped clean/Your love fills the whole screen
I needed this duet with you...cause my solo heart was made for two
The faith that had stumbled...Two left feet that bumbled
As the groom and the bride we'll make a promise that's final
A double chocolate scoop
The spoon that stirs the stew
Like dreams are made for sharing, and hearts are made for caring...yeah it's trueq
Like eyes are made for gazing, and lips are made for tasting
We belong together and this sweet surprise...needs u and i... needs You and I
See my sunset turn into sunrise...such a sweet surprise
That hearts aren't built to fit one size
That hearts don't have to be shaded blue/Cause hearts are actually made for two
Yeah and you bring rhythm to my best rhyme/Gotta have your love to write the next line
But now I do/Honey hearts like yours and mine are made for two
Why the world turned slower when you took my hand/Why my heart beat faster...now I understand
I sang my song alone until we met And it became a beautiful duet
We can pull each other through / You’ll heal me and I’ll heal you
We can pull each other through / You’ll heal me and I’ll heal you
I can feel this heartbeat growing stronger every day/The steady spread of courage and a new world on the way
I can feel this heartbeat growing stronger every day/The steady spread of courage and the will to find a way
Father we are guided by the light that leads us still/By tenderness and mercy and the wisdom of Your will
Now the shadows that surround us need the sunshine to be seen (MJ had a similar concept)/And the river that is raging fills the well that washes clean...and all the space between
When the masquerade is over and the fear has been erased/We'll no longer need the cover when we're smiling face to face...lifted by God's grace
I look at you and I see me/Ain't that the way it's meant to be?
There's an answer in the marrow of our bones/And it's whispering we're really not alone
When the worry deep inside you is a weight upon your heart/And you're praying God will guide you through the long and lonely dark/ Well here's a start...here's a start
When the thundercloud you're under sends you running from the rain/We can be each other's cover and the cure for all this pain
We've been out of touch for so long/We've been starving for "hello"
Don't have to run from the thunder/Don't have to run from the rain
If fear tries to enslave us/Let us be courageous
Let love spread like Heaven's breath/The calm inside the chaos
Let it spread like Heaven's breath/The calm inside the chaos
Let it spread like Heaven's breath/Blowing pain away
There's calm in the chaos/The eye of the storm
Take the gift that God gave us/And spread it around
We can pull each other through / You'll heal me and I'll heal you
Can't quarantine kindness/Can't mask...the love that God gave us/Because love is the cure/And the cure is contagious
Can't quarantine kindness/Mask the love that God gave us
Keepers
Can you feel the butterfly breeze Blowing over emotional seas
My idea for the hook/title is Butterfly Breeze. It's a reference to the actual phenomenon of the butterfly effect ANDa metaphor for how we are all affected/connected by seemingly distant and tiny happenings. I'll follow up tomorrow with a couplet ?
One heartbeat...can't you feel it too? / One rhythm calling me and you...to be One World
One absence, a space we will not fill/One presence, a spirit with us still
One blanket covering us all/One feeling cushioning the fall
One strand that stretches soul to soul/One web of life that makes us whole
Now spring brings a rebirth as green replaces gray/And Heaven touches us on Earth in such a hopeful way
Under one canopy of boundless blue/You are bound to me and I to you
Spring brings a rebirth as green replaces gray/Heaven touches Earth in such a hopeful way
One breath no longer held in check/Thank God...and let us not forget...we are One World
One web of life binds each to each/One shining star is now in reach...for one world
One strand that stretches soul to soul/One web that holds and makes us whole...One World
One breath no longer held in check/Thank God...and let us not forget...we are One World
One beam emerging from the dark One world making a brand new start
One world, creates one chrysalis Behold our metamorphosis
One world, one hopeful destiny/ One heart to harbor you and me
And when we look up, we'll see the sun/Shining down on everyone
Something in my heart's begun to stir / wondering if we'll be the way we were / praying past the pain, love will lead the way / helping us to heal
As old as time as new as now/And we know how...yes we know how
One Tree of Life with roots that bind/Our destinies are intertwined...One world
From so many different rhythms comes a single song...human strong/So sing along...One world
Though I may never see your face, and I may never take your hand/Still we will touch in other ways, just takes our hearts to understand
As one world...butterfly effect/The beating of your fragile wings is faint and far and yet...
As...one world...backs against the wall/But walls will one day fall and we'll stand tall
The palm of God...His fingers curled/Creates a cradle for the fall
Once the dust has settled and the sun shines strong/In the afterglow of a brand new dawn
Bridges not walls/Barriers fall/Under one banner unfurled
As one world...there's no Plan B/ Just this big marble spinning in infinity
(But) Spring brings a rebirth - green replaces gray/ Heaven touches Earth - in such a hopeful way
Hey it's time to build the better world we've dreamt of all these years
Freeze frame photograph of empty streets/Timelapse tapestry of one world...and our heart still beats
What I see reflected in your eyes/Is my mirror minus the disguise
All our fortress walls are falling down/All our padlocked doors are open now
Hands can't touch but hearts still do and so/We're filling all the empty left by all the letting go
Hands can't touch but hearts still do and so/We
While the world is holding its collective breath/ Life is playing peekaboo with death
Robin out my window greets the dawn/Singing like she don't know all that's gone/Maybe she knows best, how to pass this test of faith and fear
Businesses are shuttered lights are dark/Mother Earth feels more like Noah's ark/Where we end up now, will depend on how the ship is steered
We could all be scattered to the winds/Or this could be where our new world begins/Under the same sun, if we work as one, right now...right here
Now the eerie quiet is a cry/Breath we hold is hoping for a sigh/As the borders close and the distance grows/So do our fears (But I know there's an answer to our prayers
With all this time to kill/And all these hearts to fill/We got a shot at doing what once seemed impossible
The bare bones dance to a brand new tune/With an ageless truth 'neath an ancient moon
My 2020 vision's let me see/How clearly borderlines are just as blurry as can be
Crossing borders...no allegiance or alliance/Taking orders...from the principles of science
If love and sacrifice decide how tall we stand/It takes the stars to take the measure...of the man
When footprints in the sand have gone from 4 to 2/We're not alone because He carries...Me and you
When footprints in the sand have gone from 4 to 2/We're not alone because He carries...because He carries...
And tonight- with Polaris shining true/I pull your compass from my pocket/Carry it & carry you
And tonight with Polaris shining true/Pull your compass from my pocket/Carry it and carry you
Now I know what it means to be a man Because you showed me how to stand Stand up for what matters most
Now I know what it means to be a man Because you taught me how to stand Stand up for what matters most
And I have always known/From the strength you've always shown/When that loving loan comes due/I will carry you
Carry you...like a pilgrim carries prayer/I will carry you...like a whisper carries air
Time has finally come/ (To show you) I'm my father's son
Willow in the wind/Will not break...just bend
Till Heaven sends your chariot/Lend me your pain...I'll carry it
And tiny legs grow weary/tired eyes go bleary But iron arms are always Daddy strong
When your weary bones Whisper rest/And the fears you've known Weigh like granite headstones on your chest
Waking to the smell of bacon...coffee by the bed/It still takes a tick or two to get it through his head
In this space we savor the grace and the favor, This gift for which we did not pray
The depth of the peace that brings sweet release, has swept the last vestige of heartache away
Stolen moments that we've known We can't own...we only borrow/Like this life...they're just on loan/Due today or due tomorrow
And though these moments tease us/While making their escape Their fleeting presence frees us/To make our dreams take shape
In the breath we release lies the freedom and peace, To transcend both the fright and the fight
In the folding petals of a dimming day/Stolen moments still float down from God's bouquet
